The Angels are still touring these days with only the guitar players only left in the original line-up. John Brewster & Rick Brewster, yes they are related, brothers. The new lead vocalist is ok, Dave Gleeson from The Screaming Jets, but Doc Neeson was fantastic.
Great clip, rock, and gives a hint of what a powerful frontman Doc Neeson was. letsrock

My favorite Angels song is 'Marseilles', although I prefer the version Alan Lancaster's Bombers did. Mate, Ive seen both Angels and Lancaster Bombers but hands down The Angels will always win...check this out.

Thanks, rock, haven't seen that before but I knew the Gunners were big fans of the Angels. Their story has similarities with Quo as in they had some great albums along with an awsesome live act then tried to crack America but only succeeded with infighting and cracking the band up instead. The Angels were never the same after the American experience.

Just like Quo with the RAOTW album. im a bit foggy on it but I recall AC/DC helped get them under the management of Albert Studios recording label which was a very loyal and smart mob to be with and on went the Angels with their career, then for some reason along with promises of success and contacts in America, the Angels switched to another label that pissed off Albert Studios big time. Anyway the same old rock/management story happened again which co$t The Angels (btw they had to change their name to 'Angel City' in the States) big time and they never recovered to their former glory.

Thanks for the replies folks
All very interesting & some good clips posted. I really like what I hear of the Angels & as I said in my original post - not really sure why I missed them first time round
@ dennis ........... thanks for that ! I took my info from the 'Quo' cd cover and Bob isn't credited on there
@ Gaz ............... thanks for the album recommendations. I will be seeking them out
Also, for others who may not have heard the Angels before, it should be brought to their attention what a big song 'Lonely Night/AIEGSYFA' became for them ............. with the legendary audience response !!

Quo ripped this on Gotta Go Home and on the 'live' 4500 times. Certainly sounds like it, plus at first look I thought Alan was on the drums..

Hi all
I was recently surprised when I found 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again' by the Angels on YouTube ........... straightaway I said to myself, 'That's 'Lonely Night' by Quo !
Incidentally, I can't believe how the fcuk I'd never heard of the Angels 'til now - I obviously lead a much more sheltered life than I realised
I've found that 'Lonely Night' is credited to 'Coghlan/Lancaster/Parfitt/Rossi' and was a bonus track on the 'QUO' album. I seem to think I recall it being mentioned as a 'B' side on a single too (I just found it was the 'B' side to 'Break The Rules' )
I just wondered if anyone can throw any more light on this subject ?
'Lonely Night' was released in April 1974 and 'AIEGSYFA' in April 1976.
Just wondering if Quo made a fuss about the similarity of the tunes ? - I can't remember hearing or seeing anything
BOB YOUNG: “In 1973, on Quo’s Australian tour, we met a band called The Angels. Later on they wrote a song called ‘Am I Ever Gonna See You Face Again’ that became a huge hit for them. It was a great song, but it was a bit of a rip-off of a song that had I believe had started out as one of ours – ‘Lonely Night’. Play the two back to back. But it was settled out of court and the two bands didn’t fall out over it, we’re still friends.” [Author’s note: Talking to this writer in 2015, John Brewster of The Angels admitted: “I might have heard [Quo’s song] at a disco,” adding: “Al Lancaster used to live next door to me and would constantly dig me in the ribs and say: ‘You bastards, you stole our song’. One day I challenged him to prove his claim. So he brought over a copy of ‘Lonely Night’ and I played him ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ and when I heard ‘Lonely Night’, I nearly fell over.”]
