Re the current setup: While I can understand Mr and Mrs casual gig goer thinking that they have seen Status Quo, what I can't get my head round is long term Quo fans wanting autographs etc from blokes who until recently were Quo fans themselves! Totally bizarre. Hey - I've been in a gaggle where fans were getting autographs from the grown up kids (Not Quo) (At least with Quo when the grown up kids were around, they were playing in a band of some sort.)

What if Rick hadn't had his health issues this year? I think we'd likely be in the same (boat?) situation now....with everything feeling anti-climatic and pointless after the FF gigs - both for Rick, and for large sections of the fanbase. I still think that (eventually) there will be some sort of official end of sorts.....a sad fizzling out to diminishing returns would be very sad, irrespective of what the line up is I was thinking about that - if Rick was still playing in the band - it would no doubt be just a carbon copy of last year's 'groundbreaking' Accept No Substitute tour, albeit with the obligatory Softer Ride thrown in ("I ain't gonna work no more", natch).
I don't think there will be an eventual official end. Francis doesn't like them. And let's face it - how many other bands have ever had an official ending? Most bands fade away or fizzle out with random diminishing returns.

But aren't we tempted to micromanage? Rick has had a heart attack, he was "out" of the electric band anyway. And he doesn't want to join in the acoustic tour. (He did the album.) He probably has other things in mind. Acqustic is a lot of strumming for not much singing for him, he would die of boredom. And version II is not BTLOI doing as well as version 1, the Carbon Copy Follow Up never does (they will know that from their early history) and he'll get writer's royalties anyway. I reckon if he thought it was going to make a lot of money, he'd be on it like a rat up a drain. (Common saying, not specifically for Rick. Or Hammy. Sorry, Hammy.) He's daft but he's not that daft. No, he has other plans. He must have other plans. Now I'm doing it! It's fun, isn't it (Isn't it about time we got the LOTE tickets??) Sorry, I'm wittering, got a lot to do and don't want to get on and do it PS this was not a response to lazypoker, so the fact that "carbon copy" appeared in two totally unrelated posts at the same time must mean something

Rick stated that it was HIS idea about the whole Aquostic stuff- he seems to have his head up his own arse a bit too much for his own good. That was long before Francis took control of the whole project and made a complete bollocks of it That was in one of the interviews a few weeks before the album came out was it not?

Yep but, I don't expect him to sit there and talk an album down, when he's supposed to be promoting it tbf It's like when Don't Stop came out. He was talking it up big time and then, months later, he was almost apologising for it

Hi All, QQ1.5, Could he have meant he was in favour of acoustic versions of Quo tracks as a one off, perhaps a gig and album then back to the usual poprock ? Is it also possible that Francis overruled him and the others then said it's the way forward as It suites him In this stage of the bands existence ?

British Telecom (sponsors) Living On (an) Island.
Status Quo and BT, two of the UK's best loved National Institutions, are teaming up to celebrate the 18th Anniversary of Quo's 1998 tour, which ripped off the BT advertising campaign, 'It's Good To Talk' by making their tour programme look a bit like a phone directory and calling it 'It's Good To Tour'.
Celebrate this milestone 18th Anniversary by signing up now to an 18 month contract to our Wi-Fi and cable tv service, and getting a FREE mp3 copy of the band's latest masterpiece, Aquostic II.

They're all a lost cause at this stage.
