Maybe it's the drugs and morphine but I actually think it's ok. Will I listen to it a lot, definitely not. They've attempted some arrangements some work some don't. I will give them some credit for trying. Now before anyone is abusive, I'm not well so fuck off. Hope you will feel a bit better soon, PF

And, unlike the dull brainless strummalong that preceded it, at least they've had a proper go at reworking some of the songs on this album. I probably won't listen to it much again. It'll most likely gather dust on the cd rack. But, to me, it's not the absolute sacrilege that some are claiming and I'm certainly not going to get worked up over how far removed from Piledriver it is. They've released much, much worse than this, in my eyes.

Yep, I think since the last one "lessons have been learned" and the accordion is not quite so pervasive, and there are bits where the girls aren't warbling (but they are lying in wait), and there are even a couple of decent guitar breaks. So in some ways some of the tracks are less worse. (I like that version of LOTHR better than the original, but I didn't care greatly for the original.) On the other hand, Francis is continuing his campaign to chop ROLD up into little bits, stomp on it and denature it to the point it won't even grow cabbages. PS we have to live with the fact that one of the lessons learned is that people bought it. Gold in the UK? That isn't bad these days. So now there's a 2 and there is going to be a 3. Nobody said getting old was easy (Well, they did actually, there was stuff about retirement and roses round the door etc etc etc, all fibs for most people.)

Some tracks work, some don't. Liking Rockers Rollin at the moment for some reason amongst others.

My take on it, It's not an album to rock too it's an album to chill to. Now If I want to rock ill put on the originals which I play very often and still will. However if I am in the right mood this and the previous one would be something I would listen to. I can't get worked up that the songs are so different that was to be expected, it does not alter my love for the original versions.
I know this is not the view of everyone here, however my wife who is not a rock fan quite liked the songs she heard me playing. She likes Ed Sherran and the accoustic style of music so for her it's something differernt from Quo and she might like to listen to the whole album.

Favourites for me are ROLD & Backwater because they've made them so different

The thing in general is absolutely awful... Every song seems to be the same level all the way through, no change in dynamics whatsoever. Parfitts vocals for Ice In The Sun either have an awful effect on them or they was recorded over a phone call

Again, I blame the drugs.
If they'd spent less time touring to make up for the millions that went up their noses, and more time being a bit more carefully creative, we might've been spared this attempt to redeem their artistic credibility at the 11th hour.
The irony is, they should have stuck to the status quo.

....and what the fcuk is going on with RP's voice in IITS?
When he sings "I melt away", it sounds like he's after a part of a chimney sweep in a remake of Mary Poppins.

It's.....i'ts..... sorry, can't find the words for it... just listened to the samples in Itunes. Not even going to download 1 track, never going to listen to it again. It's just not worth listening to it, that's how bad it is. I can't call myself a Status Quo fan any longer knowing they released this under the Status Quo name. Sad but true.

I'd rather smear my bawbag with antelope blood then dangle it in front of the jaws of a Honey Badger, while shouting "BITE ME, YA HAIRY WEE SHITE!", before I'd listen to this utter garbage. It's like if you looked at Davey's antelope blood covered bawbag. You know you shouldn't but curiosity gets the better. Then you regret it. Fixed that for ya.

Thanks mate for giving me a damn good belly laugh. I'm trying to avoid this album but just had a sneaky listen to IITS after your post. I got to the 1:06 mark when Rick sings(?) "She opened up her eyes to speak..." OMG The I pictured him in a Mary Poppins chimney sweep outfit...classic stuff!
