On the old MB I posted a link to a very informative interview with John Eden. It covered the making of the original album and the reasons it was mixed that way at the time and what he did on the remix. Most of it went over my head but there was some nice personal memories in there as well. I found the interview by google but then someone else posted a better copy that been saved... Can anyone remember who it was?

Okay, so I want to buy the remix, since I think you're all nuts about the first one. I think it's a damned fine album, and if the remix is even better then sign me up. Where can you buy it?

I guess the best place to buy it would be to google 'Status Quo Official Site' and scroll down till you see the RAOTW remix cd, unless someone's got a better idea. Btw AQ before buy RAOTW I certainly hope you've bought The Frantic Four Final Fling DVD.....now THAT'S essential!! You can buy that on the official site as well. Cmon now I'm just trying to look after you ok.

Well the Original was aimed at you and it did just that, so fair enough, but bear with us Eoropeans (as we have better taste): buy the Eden one, it's better.

John Eden has done a great job in giving us a different sonic perspective of the RAOTW album. Although it does show something that not even a remix can fix:If Quo were recorded in an ultra sterile studio, all instrument microphones having little to no overspill, then that means a fair amount of the dynamics in the music, that was so prevalent in the '72-'76 albums, are lost and cannot be added after the fact. However, this remix sounds more like a follow up to BFY now than in any other time in its 38 year history.

For you guys, when RAOTW came it was was different from what came before, whereas you just wanted more of the same. I get that. Blue For You had been different, and now this was really different. You preferred what you had known for years. For me, however, it's all the same. I didn't witness the progression of the band from Ma Kelly's and Dog to BFY and beyond. I see them all as being equal when starting out, so I simply prefer what I prefer. RAOTW is drastically better than most of the drek of the last 40 years and to me it's fresh and new, and damned good. And while I'm blaspheming, let's really go for it. ICSTH is even better.

I always thought IYCSTH was also another attempt at cracking America so I'm not surprised you like it. I think it's mediocre and not as good as the 3 albums that followed it. I like the sound of it, but there's some dodgy songs on it.

I like the sound of it, but there's some dodgy songs on it. Definitely agree about IYCSTH being another attempt at cracking America. Some bright spark at the record company decided that RAOTW should be mixed to sound best on American AM radio. That didn't work so the bright sparks next idea was "the big production" and that's where the horn section, female backing vocals and layers of overdubbed guitars come in on IYCSTH. I'm Giving Up My Worryin' is for me the worst song ever by the original line up and makes Baby Boy seem like 4500 Times.

I stomached RAOTW - thought where did the bass and thump go, but thought songs were generally okay, still with some WTF moments, BUT 2 seconds into IYCSTH was the first genuine truly genuine WTF moment I'd ever had with Quo. I was stunned. I could defend Quo to the hilt when they were heavy and bluesy, to anyone, but this, this would take some effort to defend or even want to. It was listened to once and then shelved. Liked the album cover.

Thanks again for your improvement to my post. Why you wanted to stress that our food is superior to yours is beyond me however. I would have thought it to be common knowledge that "American" and "cuisine" don't fit in one sentence.
