Alan simply confirmed what we always knew or suspected about Francis and his very devious and underhand intentions for the band.

All we have is AL's side of thing as previously we have had FR's. The one thing I would question is the JC sacking, I was always led to believe it was a band decision and now it's nasty old Francis's fault.

It's varied over the years but, the one constant in the stories was, John losing the rag and Francis ringing Pete to come in. Alan blamed himself for letting it happen before but, it's always been said Francis made the call to get Pete in. Even Francis has said it Now, what happened between John losing it and Francis ringing Pete is anyone's guess but, the way Francis treated Alan and other members since, I think it's a safe bet he was pushing to get John out

It was a difficult situation but they had to carry on.

The Xs book...Whilst not revealing too much that we didn't already know they said, if you read between the lines, Francis at certain points says things that scream, "Yeah I'm the main man here and everyone is below me"

Thanks for the link Davec . Strange the band have never seen a royalty cheque ? Was this the crux of the matter when Alan and then John had to sue for monies owing from recordings and greatest hits packages released after their departures ? Echoing previous posts , it is refreshing and believable to listen to Alan , no music / showbiz bollocks , just plain talking .Wish we could gave heard more , and what he believes the future holds for himself as a musician . Royalty statement. It means the management never told the band what the money was doing, never informed them. That was quite common then, it's much harder for management to get away with that now.

All we have is AL's side of thing as previously we have had FR's. The one thing I would question is the JC sacking, I was always led to believe it was a band decision and now it's nasty old Francis's fault. There is a strong sense of "had it up to here" in Francis behaviour in the early 80s. Before that, he had the reputation of the one who tried to smooth things over and keep the peace in the band. It looks to me like the drugs kicked in and took his patience with it. But there was always a bit of friction between Francis and Alan. Leaving aside that there is always friction in a band where they are living on top of each other all the time, it's almost a cliche really. Even John admits he was being a pain in the neck on frequent occasions, but he's also said that at this point, once he said he wanted to leave (without actually seeing it through ... ) he was more or less bundled into a car and out of the country back to Blighty, he wasn't given a second chance. Fact is, it looks like nobody stood up for him.
