Far be it from me to claim all responsibility for this, ultimately they underestimated and are still in denial about the amount of feeling over Rick and thought that they could get away with it.
I emailed my press release to Duroc on Saturday after I had emailed it to a range of key media outlets. Basically I advised Duroc what I had done and encouraged them to do the decent thing. I got a response on Tuesday, that was far from pleasant and clearly evidenced that they know who I am, which can only be due to their monitoring of this board.
Then the response went onto say that it would give me a refund in the form of a donation to my charity, " in fact I will double the donation" He appeared to think I had one ticket.
My response was more dignified, detailing that I had 6 tickets worth £300, and whilst I was not expecting them to honour the double, I asked them to confirm the donation to charity in lieu of a refund.
As a result of today's announcement I am now encouraging them to honour the double donation to charity, and made it very clear that I will still be donating my refund to charity( anyone wants proof of this, I will copy you the receipt when I get it, just pm me your email)
Duroc were clearly rattled by my approach to the press and no doubt the threat and the guarantee that I was taking this matter to court. I threatened a company with similar process a few years ago, under the consumer act, and also sent press release. The press contacted the company and they settled with me, and the matter was never published. Did that happen in this instance, well only Duroc can answer that.
However i I fear that my next press release could be " Status Quo fail to make a donation to Charity"
On a wider note, it's interesting that the refund has not had a link put up on the status quo and Ftmo FB sites, they normally put on there if they sneeze. Perhaps What Duroc refers to as a handful of fans, might be more like a whole handful. And it would be even more interesting if the ticket agents emailed all buyers and advised them how to get a refund. It's not the first time that Quo management opened a hornets nest and didn't realise the consequences of same.
Anyone who wants a read of my correspondence, send me your email by pm
