I am going to stir this pot until it boils or I get my refund. just sent this to BBC, SKY, mail, mirror, sun. anyone got any other ideas how I could circulate it more widely.
Status Quo Fans want a refund
Status Quo fans are outraged that they have not yet been offered a refund by the bands management, following the announcement that Rick Parfitt will not play on the tour. Fans obviously wish Rick well, whatever the future and accept that his health is paramount. However their current tour, was advertised, marketed and promoted as the last ever tour of Rock Icons Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi. Tickets were as expensive as £199, due to it being the last tour of the two original Quo members. Status Quo has over the years toured with various different members, but Rick and Francis have been the front men and the public image of Status Quo for 50 years. Indeed all promotional material symbolises the two front men as Status Quo. But now the band management are suggesting that Status Quo can continue on with a stand in guitarist. This is simply unacceptable to Quo fans who believe that they are not receiving the goods that they purchased. Indeed the live performance is not near the quality that it should be as Rick is also the only other vocalist in the band who contributes significantly to the live set, with key Rock anthems song solely by Rick. One fan, Stephen Doherty, from Northern Ireland is so outraged that he has sought refunds via the promoter, the ticket company and the credit card company. His next step is to take the matter to the small claims court which will cost further money but Stephen Doherty is prepared to do this to prove his point and get his refund. Stephen has advised that this is no longer about the money but the principal of the matter and has indeed pledged to give the refund to the local Hospice. Stephen Doherty is also expected to sell the ticket for one penny if he doesn’t receive the refund. He advised us that he could never go to a Status Quo concert where Rick Parfitt is not present, and therefore will be forced to sell the tickets if he has to. To that end Stephen Doherty advised that the he values the tickets as only being worth one penny if Rick Parfitt is not playing.

Hi DQ I've been reading the posts on the forums with interest, following the update on Rick. My thoughts on the issue of refunds are different to yours. Therefore, do you think that your article should have read "Some Status Quo fans are outraged ... etc?" I'm not outraged you see, and here's why. I've followed Quo since 1979 and have seen band members come and go. I was sad when John and Alan left and when the EOTR gigs toured in '84 I was devastated to think that that was the end of the group I'd followed, albeit for a mere 5 years. I agree that the Quo of today aren't the same as they were in the 70s; I don't think, even if the band consisted of the original 4 members, that they would sound the same today as they did then - weren't the reunion tours proof of that? I don't mean that in a derogatory way, I loved the reunion gigs, but they didn't sound the same and I never expected them to. I'm still glad to be able to have a good night out, listening to music that I've grown to know and love. I think that we are very fortunate that Rick is still here and able to receive the accolade from his many thousands of fans for all that he has given us over many years. I also think that carrying on with the LNOTE tour, with a replacement musician taking his place, is a fitting tribute to a man who has given his all for almost half a century. That's why I'm looking forward to the winter tour and am not seeking a refund. I wondered why you don't put your tickets on ebay? I'm sure they'd sell. Regards Caroline

If you want to be courted by the media then you have to play by their rules - be overblown and sensationalist. Given that Quo's management have used this tactic to degrade the Status Quo name and peddle inferior product over the years, it's only right they get a taste of their own medicine.

This and I want a refund or sell for one penny...I wouldn't sell these tickets as status quo tickets as I don't recognise this as quo so I will sell for the value that I think they are worth. ..One penny This hasn't been about the money for sometime...so one penny is the value I place on it

I'm not going to any of the winter gigs.
Cos cabaret were not giving vfm on stage 5 or 6 years ago and they aren't now.(A1 aside which I liked)
The dull by-the-numbers performances, mainly Rossi, and dead set list was the icing on the cake.
To take Rick out of this shambles, leaves a tribute band unworthy of the name. Alan and John have more moral(if not legal) claim to the name.
And if I had bought a ticket out if some misguided idea of wanting to see the last tour, after seeing Rick on posters promoting it, I should want a refund.
