Well it has finally happened "Cruise- Ship Quo".How the hell has it come to this?
There was a time back in the 70s up until Live were Quo imho had a certain integrity about them.Constantly knocked for being" the usual three chord wonders" written by uninformed and ignorant journalists.Regardless the band stuck to the formula that made them the best live band I had ever seen.
Fast forward to today and you have a band that are a parody of themselves. Is this really how they want to be remembered?
I will always love the bands early music and all the great times I had seeing them from way back in the early 70s and the FF reunion gigs but I just cannot get my head around why they have decided to end it this way.
Always loved Rory Gallagher, there was one guy who never sold out.Certainly not as commercially successful as Quo or many other bands but that was his choosing. If only.
Enjoy.

Bermuda Triangle would be the best place to set sail to.

It seems that CQ have actually gone out of their way to be a karaoke tribute entertainment band in the public eye. They haven't only parodied and cheapened the Frantic Four original, but they have even parodied themselves by ignoring their own musical product and engaging in cheap corny gimmicks and slapstick comedy both on, and off, the stage.
The management act more like holiday park administrators than rock band promoters.

And to think, 5 or 6 years ago people were making jokes about this sort of stuff on the old message board, as though they'd ever think of it?..
Can't wait for the next installment, a tour round the Working Mens Clubs of the North? Amusement Parks?
Pure Spinal Tap.. Hilarious!

I've always liked the down to earth nature and self deprecating sense of humour within Quo that has existed since the year dot - and made them refreshingly not up some pretentious backside as various overhyped so called 'stars' are. The likes of John Peel etc used to say this back in the 70's
However there are limits as to how far this goes. It *should* be possible to retain a rock band identity with a small splash of light vs shade within it...and not instead morph into full-on hired party entertainment hall minstrels who happen to also play songs in the cause of a knees-up.

Sad fact of the matter is that people aren't interested in music nowadays unless something's in it for them, whether that be boasting about going on a cruise or buying band-branded beer to show off to their mates.
Quo will be right at home with the other self-indulgent t***s on board.

Bermuda Triangle would be the best place to set sail to. It's in the setlist I believe.

When I first saw this thread is thought it was an old thread that someone had updated. With a headline like that it could have been a many years old thread.

Rory Gallagher was great, love all those vids. great post. Rossi once was a hero of mine as much as Gallagher has always been, and they say you should never meet your hero's as you might be disappointed, and I have met him in the 80's though wouldn't want to meet him now as he is a disappointment!!!

Its as if they are actively pursuing the most embarrassing, gimmick laden, sad, bottom of the barrel gig. They will end up in old workers clubs - no doubt having come full circle. The really sad thing is that they simply do not have to do this...do they? They are literally killing Status Quo. They are one big joke.
