CGYM is a great song 'electrically', but it would be yet another strum along acoustically They need slower songs that force them to be more inventive and creative.... In your opinion! Francis however says it sounds great strummed acoustically Its settled then

None of us can look into the future, but he at least has played it on an acoustic guitar, so perhaps he has the right to say so until we've heard it...I did like a few of the Aquostic songs so I won't condemn it from the get-go, that's all I'm trying to say! Not taking sides here in any way

Not taking sides here in any way Francis can have his opinion of course, but his opinions don't nessecarely have to be mind and in this case I happen to agree with Catlady, I personally don't think it would sound too good. I am not fond of the song as is, but an acoustic version seems even worse to me. Francis has the right to say anything...fans have just as much right to say it if they don't think a certain idea would work. I'm not condemning the idea, I just don't think it will work.

Another Aquostic effort will probably just be more coarsely spread strum-along dross – but probably with much weaker songs than previous…
If you want to do something acoustic, do it well and with feeling – rootsy, bluesy, notably different from the original, spontaneous …..and, if necessary, self-indulgent….but great……
Prince
Lindsay Buckingham
Compared to these, Quo’s efforts have been ( and are likely to be ) extremely poor…

Love that Prince set. First time i've seen it but it knocks Quo's acoustic efforts for six. Heartfelt, creative, bluesy and full of life, not to mention great guitar playing. Now if Rossi Parfitt put on an acoustic set with this amount of soul and spontaneity then they may have a future!

I'm not actually enthused about another Aquostic project, so its academic really which song is being discussed from my own point of view anyway. If there has to be one however, then the initial post stands, that CGYM, being the rhythmic song it is, in my opinion leans itself to the type of strum along approach that the likes of Paper Plane etc received in the first project. However, whether Francis proves me, or anyone else with a similar opinion right or wrong isn't that important - as I am not exactly leaping about with avid anticipation about any MK II in the first place

Okay, so something else... some people said there are no hits or classics left over for Aquostic 2. I disagree.
Ice in the Sun In My Chair Mean Girl Gerdundula Don't Waste My Time Big Fat Mama Roll Over Lay Down Forty-Five Hundred Times Wild Side of Life Dirty Water Hold You Back Living on an Island Lies Something 'Bout You Baby I Like Dear John Ol' Rag Blues A Mess of Blues Going Down Town Tonight The Wanderer Red Sky In the Army Now Dreamin' Ain't Complaining The Way It Goes Jam Side Down The Party Ain't Over Yet Beginning of the End Rock 'n Roll 'n You
Not saying all of these would work... but I think many of these are popular beyond the Quo fanbase and some could work well. Feel free to pour your scorn on this list or to add something substantial.

These two videos ^^ show indeed how it could be done. Rootsy, bluesy and notably different from the original, like kiwipom said. That's my idea of a rock song played acoustically, too. It's amazing what Prince and Lindsey B. have done to their songs, and LB's guitar playing is just superb. I agree there was too much strumming along going on on Aquostic, although the songs did sound different and fresh to my ears. I really love(d) the violins, but I could have done without the accordion. I'm not even going to try and speculate about any songs they might choose for Aquostic II. As Rick said they "put a lot of eggs into one basket with the last one, all the major hits, but there is still plenty more songs in the catalogue that we can trawl through" (FTMO 4/2016).

Aquostic 2, only if there is an accordion solo.

They are currently recording a second acoustic album. Not sure if there will be an acoustic tour yet because of the expense !!

If they made an effort like Prince and Lindsey Buckingham obviously did then there would be minimal expense as they wouldn't have to pay a load of other musicians to make up for their own shortcomings.

If Francis and Rick were part of a band that can put together songs in the calibre of A Year and Unspoken Words then there should be no excuse for a strum along solution fits all. They clearly had the ability well over 40 yrs back to put together something more imaginative and creative than this type of treatment to their songs, so they sure have the ability at this time
I think its more to do with defaulting automatically to inbred instinct based on the Quo bread and butter formula of (obviously Rick especially) hitting the strings hard to the fast rhythm or duh-de-duh-de-duh combo that identify them so closely.
The problem is being too closely attached to this formula and not a bit more lateral thinking beyond a one shoe size fits all approach. Too one dimensional in approach to song choices for set lists, and too one dimensional in terms of different ways of approaching their own material, and choice of material.
They have the ability to do this - however its getting out of an habitual entrenched mind-set and comfort zone that is the problem preventing this happening I think
Edit: If Aquostic II is already recorded then the above is obviously academic - not that it was likely to be close to verifying anyway

After reading lazypokers thread (above) then all this talk is of no use. Francis and Rick are finally putting Quo to bed no doubt at all.

Yes indeed Gaz, and why I put the little edit at the finish Much of the talk was of little consequence anyway - more a case of us fans having our own ideal wish-lists.
There has never been any problem with them winding down Quo. It is an inevitability and there is every reason why they are entitled to do this after so many years. Its simply been a case of hoping for the best results from it

Even though I have no hope of going to any of their final shows, I do hope there is a happy ending as in some involvement with Alan and John. I know many on here think it's disresctful for nothing less than a full gig from them but if it was done properly ,with prior advertising of Alan and Johns attendence, then I believe it'd be quite emotional in a good way.
