You take a lot of abuse from many of the fans here, and you are not perfect as none of us is, but overall you have been a monstrously positive force in the rock & roll industry, and overall you´ve created a lot of work that has provided us Earthlings at least a little bit of joy.
For that I say thanks. You are one of the greats, and should go down in history as such.
Your fan,
Jeff

Your fan,
Jeff Essentially agree with you..Could offer some other opinions on top of this...but we will keep it positive...and perhaps Francis will secure his greatness with a proper exit from the scene...

Jeff Isn't it a bit premature for an obituary? I'm sure there's a bit of life left in the old dog yet!

Not an obituary, it´s a thank you letter from a fan. To create some perspective. That´s all.

Pity about him and the small bit of abuse he gets on here,it won't ruin or effect his life, he probably enjoys it while he looks at his bank statment..unlike the abuse that Rossi (and Rick) dealt to Alan in 85...and they didn't give a fuck.,, here we go with a couple of session guy's and Quo's Back..........................................they never were though, but the so called ''loyal'' fans bought it.!!!

He is loyal to Rossi (and maybe RP). Its ok. Like jeff wrote: nobody is perfect, ..and that 'session guy' thing. No smart way to put it that way you said above. But some of you have those, sorry, a bit childish 'realquo' statements. Or real line up..etc
True survivor at the end of the road is Francis Rossi.

Not an obituary, it´s a thank you letter from a fan. To create some perspective. That´s all. Jeff
Francis sees himself as a wannabe Everly.
But I think that he enjoyed the heavier FF days more than he is keen to make out and also downplayed his enjoyment of the reunions more than really was the case.
The well known fact that Alan wanted Quo to keep moving further and further along as a harder rock act along with the associated image that goes with it, snapped Francis back to his starting philosophy of wanting to strum a guitar like an Everly Brother. He reacted almost like he had forgotten his original identity. Also, following on from this time, probably the straightening out process from drug excesses served to push him back to desiring a much more benign musical association image.
All this could well be partly why he became something of a Wham wannabe solo act in the mid 90's A very deliberate attempt, maybe, at total image contrast in front of the public gaze, away from the front man FF days of the 70's
I think that the FF reunion following on from 30 yrs away from it, also served in this respect in its aftermath to make Francis downplay the rock act, and any personal association with it yet again and stress how much he is not a part of it - with yet more references as to how he always wanted to be an Everly.
We all know of his rather dualistic character, and quite likely part of the 'insecure little show-off' which says 'look at me, don't look at me' is reserved from that FF act however much he tries to deny and offset it by returning time after time to play the pop act. I think it is this element of self denial of his heavier FF past that has kept re-surfacing at intervals in his career, that is manifesting itself once again - this time through his refusal to do more FF gigs and stress instead more acoustic and solo projects as if it further distances himself from all of it.
He might well be continuing to try to convince himself as much as he tries to convince the fans.
I actually enjoy seeing Francis do different things away from Quo and wish he had been encouraged more to write more non Quo music in his solo projects. Ironically I think if he had developed his solo career more in the period from KOTDH (which I like!) and OSAAT (which I also like) he might well have more enthusiasm and appetite for the FF front man alter ego than is the case...... Which is also very much what I would have liked.
That to me would mean the best of both worlds, a winner once again.
The reality however is with CQ and the live show as it has become, and reflects a much less exciting no mans land where Francis continues to reign back from wanting to appear to be associated with dabbling too much back in the heavier rock zone.

Thanks?
Francis was at one stage a 'hero' of mine and I still admire the songs that he wrote, the music he made with the FF period Quo and his distinctive nasal vocals and melodic guitar style and solos which I love in comparison to the supposed guitar greats.
However his ego has destroyed a once great band and its legacy as a piece of musical history and he did not care who he walked over or past in his quest to move beyond FF and trampled on many friends in the process which for myself starts to question his character and qualities as a human being which at the end of the day is the most important thing.
I think Francis thinks he is a genius but that the 'lame brain' Quo fans stopped him from progressing and could not appreciate his genius. In reality he is not a genius but did produce some interesting music within FF but beyond this his talents both as a song writer, musician and producer were limited, but he was so delusory that he did not realise this.

I'm pretty happy with saying "Thanks for what you did Francis." I don't mind him earning money. I came to that conclusion about the Beatles when I was 9, so it's not like it's a tough idea.

I have zero problem with him earning money. I give him him full credit for writing and recording great songs. Sadly over a 50 year career the music has been not always very good. It's sad that he leads a band that has no interest in playing their greatest and most popular song.

Rossi was Rossi and Quo were Quo. Two different things. The problem is that Rossi and Quo are now one and the same... A band with a dissociative identity disorder. Rudderless, meandering, neither here nor there. No real sense of self.

I've thought he was a good lead player and a fucking brilliant whatever it's called when he's not playing lead.
