Sorry I can't stand this 80's sound and, as others have said, it is so far away from Status Quo that they really are a different band trading under the same name. I mean the song is ok and with a more ballsy, or even acoustic guitar treatment, the end result would have been better. It has potential but jeez Rossi and his love for this kind of stuff is really baffling. He is so ill suited to it in more ways than one. I don't mind different at all but I do want quality and musicianship. There was none of that from the early/mid eighties onwards.

I don´t know if you can get further away from the Quo I like. I think I might have played it once when I bought it. Don´t remember. But I don´t ever want to hear this song again!

I don't mind different at all but I do want quality and musicianship. There was none of that from the early/mid eighties onwards. Problem was the stuff they were making earlier on wasn’t popular at that time and they were either making these kind of produced records were made to appeal to wider market. They tried to keep their rock feel a bit but crossed over into that contrived shouty rock area which didn’t really suit them either. The loving game was a pretty bad attempt in that aspect. Suppose they had to experiment a bit to stay relevant???

Never heard it. So I've started listening to it on YT. At one min 30, I'm thinking WTF is this. And stopped. I could make a great reaction vid to it, as I've never heard it before. But it would not be favourable. I like ballads and romantic songs. But not this one. And as 4th Chord says, Francis' voice lacks depth to make is work. We also have a long thread on this track from 2022 (13th Dec) 4th Chord

I can imagine one of those boy bands like Westlife having a hit with this. Wouldn’t surprise me at f the writers had that in mind. The chorus especially has a great melody. I don’t think Francis makes a bad job of it tbh. But just not Quo. Even Even gets the love was a bad flop !

He was agreeing with me that Who Gets The Love is a top song. Regardless of whether it's under the name of Quo or not. steveb knows where his bread is buttered. He knows he wants some sugar from daddy

Journey is one of 'those' American bands I just didn't get.
File alongside 38 Special, Chicago, Kansas, Molly Hatchet, Doobie Brothers, Kiss, Pat Benatar et al, in my "Approach with Extreme Caution" folder.
