In life generally there's usually more than one way to translate anything, and there's always some who'll gravitate to the least likely explanation so they can be offended by it.
So, considering context, which is the more likely, intended, message of this artwork?
1) You will be gobsmacked by the quality of this music. 2) You should ask your chauffeur to punch your girlfriend in the face.
Personally speaking, I've had to let the chauffeur go. These are tough times and hard decisions had to be made. One of my butlers now drives the Rolls.

Brilliant jason!! 🤪👍 Yep I remember this LP sleeve too. Tbh I was more interested in what music was on it than what the sleeve ‘meant’. Far as I can recall it was just more Pye rehashing - I didn’t buy it. Not sorry either!! 😉G

Wasn't it the first PYE release to be actively promoted by the band? Red vinyl as well if I remember. The gigs in May '79 tentatively promoted If You Can't Stand The Heat about 7 months after the event (hence the front cover of the tour programme), but the flexi-disc given away at the gigs had something like In My Chair on it; with commentary, maybe? Someone will put me right if that's off the mark. The album (and the flexi-disc for that matter) sits in the collection but I've never played it. Never really gave the sleeve much thought but over 40 years after the fact it does look a bit odd. Out of it's time I guess. Is it a chauffeur or a snooker umpire? Thus raising ancient jokes about potting the pink and the brown etc. etc.

Think that’s spot on M. I remember the band gave this their blessing and it was being promoted with the Tour. Heat had already been and gone in the charts. Think the first Autobiography was being sold at the gigs as well. Yeah that Flexi disc was In my chair as part of the promotion for this album. I managed to volunteer to put it out on all the seats at Newcastle city hall along with a mini record mirror tribute newspaper. Which I abandoned as soon as the band came in to rehearse early afternoon as I headed for stage front ! 😂

That promo sound clip from the Flexidisc was released in the 2003 CD re-issue of the Ma Kelly... album. Well, I think that's the same.

I have that vinyl album still and I have a red colored vinyl of it. Strange album cover indeed...

It is 50 years ago this week, that Quo's 'In My Chair' peaked at Number 21 in the UK's Top 30 singles chart.

I wonder if ‘ In my Chair ‘ charting just tipped Pye into giving them the extra album (Dog). I know Dustpipe had charted earlier in year but I wonder if that would have been enough without In my Chair. Ma Kelly’s hadn’t charted so they only had those 2 singles as ammunition. I think I remember many years ago reading John Schroeder had to plead with PYE to let them have another album. Can’t remember the source though. So long ago !

Surely the inspiration for Smell The Glove. Perfect cover for Spooky Tooth's "You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw."

Surely the inspiration for Smell The Glove. Perfect cover for Spooky Tooth's "You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw." Good one! I've just never understood how that image was supposed to relate to Quo, either at the time of release or in the Pye era.
