Perfect cover for Spooky Tooth's "You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw." Good one! I've just never understood how that image was supposed to relate to Quo, either at the time of release or in the Pye era. Well...There's a guy with a white glove saying hello on the WYW cover...And that was the next album released! Coincidence?

Maybe, although Whatever You Want wasn't released until October '79 whereas Just For The Record was released in June '79, with promotion at the gigs in the previous weeks. Could be the same guy though!

I wonder why anyone thought this would be worth promoting ? Remember thinking "oh god,not another Pye compilation "!!

I wonder why anyone thought this would be worth promoting ? Remember thinking "oh god,not another Pye compilation "!! Perhaps they thought there was an untapped niche market of Quo fans who were just waiting for the right compilation to be released, when many already had most of the tracks multiple times already!

Good shout , they hadn't previously mined the woman hating psycho elements of the fanbse

You can see how furious PYE Records were with themselves for letting Quo go with this myriad of compilations they released in the subsequent years. Still, it took them the best part of a decade to dig up anything previously unreleased. Perhaps the vaults magically opened when they became PRT in 1980, paving the way for the "Fresh Quota" 10" in 1981? You'd think it a bit morally dubious for PYE to release a few more Quo singles on the back of their success with "Paper Plane", but i guess the band had been slumming it for so long, they didn't give a shit about that and were pretty glad for any exposure. "Mean Girl" was a Top 20 hit in the UK (only just), highest chart position 12 in Norway, but "Gerdundula" released a couple of months later, failed to chart anywhere, so i guess they stopped that and began all the compilations instead, 'Golden Hour of..." etc.....
So yeah, what were PYE Records thinking, letting Quo go, never mind this album sleeve!
(Do you think it's the same artist who drew/painted both "Just For The Record" and the "Whatever You Want" sleeves then?)

Actually it was a TOP 20 hit in Spain getting to number 16 .However that was in 1971 while Quo were still at PYE.
