Not a bad album FW, but please remove Little White Lies with a pitchfork, flamethrower, napalm, ... (you get the idea)

I reckon Like a Zombie and OMB would fit in perfectly on an FF album. Like a Zombie One Man Band Don't Mind If I Do Solid Gold Heavy Traffic Creepin Up On You Never Say Never Twenty Wild Horses Little White Lies Bad News I could hear them on an FF album Would certainly be a much better album if you played it alongside anything post 77 - 84. Maybe apart from WYW & NTL. But the rest definitely! Don’t see any of em fitting on a pre 77 album tbh.

Little White Lies could easily be something like All The Reasons for an album pre 77 Bad News sounds like something from WYW

"best album since NTL" most of us said. And that felt a very important point - it was ten years. But of course, there hadn't been much competition. What guitar did francis use? I don't like the tone, which is a real shame as otherwise the sound is great I seem to recall an interview where Francis comments that RTYD was the last album that was recorded predominantly all on the famous green tele. Subsequent albums featured various other guitars in the studio and the green tele was only used sparingly.

I've always felt this overrated by fans, its status more do to with the dross preceding and succeeding it rather than any inherent greatness. It is good, no doubt, in places, and bland in others. Unlike many I don't like guitar sound on some of it - particularly on Polly and Nothing Comes Easy; odd guitar tones. One Man Band, No Problems, maybe Like a Zombie, would be my three picks. Good Sign has signs of rocking life aswell. Warning Shot is decent but there is something very John Farnham "You're the Voice" about it - maybe I'm the only one to hear that. Its Farnhammy in mood perhaps rather than direct musical influence. Earnest, late 80s/early 90s "issues" songs. Nice melody but not very engaging. Title track is very bland pop, I know some rate it highly but for me it's a skipper. The B Sides are decent with one or two definitely good enough to be on the album. Surely one could have replaced the awful nursery rhymey Tommy. That twee side of Francis is so off putting, his odd amalgam of lite pop 'n' country, coming off cheesy more often than not. Overall a better album than what came before, but too weighed down with mediocre tracks to stand it up as great. This 100%. Quo fans were crying out for anything that even tipped a nod to previous greatness, and this cobbled together album delivered a chink of light. However, when your best track by far on it is a re-recording of an old track, well, I think we all knew this didn't mark the beginning of another classic period.

All we really wanna sounds quite strange I think

(you get the idea) With LWL, I have a feeling that Rick had been receiving subliminal messages when he happened to listen to 'There She Goes' by the band 'The La's' when played backwards. asthequoflies mentions some similarity between Warning Shot and John Farnham's 'The Voice'. Maybe, but Quo's 'The Power of Rock' was a little bit in that ball park, wasn't it?

Could be wrong on this, but have a memory of perhaps Francis making that comparison in an interview somewhere. I'd prefer Quo's Farnham to Farnhams' Farnham; TPOR is one of the best Quo tracks of the decade. You're the Voice is good but doesnae have the power of TPOR, so to speak.

As Rhino said in FTMO mag this year, they were going to do You’re the Vouce for Ain’t Complaining but had to scrap the idea when it became a big hit.
Pop has said that the “whoahs” in the Power of Rock were a nod to that ( I’m paraphrasing there “

Close enough? Thanks for that. Always wondered what he looked like,he gets name checked by the black crowes a lot Anyway Ive remembered who I was thinking of ,glad as its been driving me mad 😆 It was Raven, they had an album in the early 80's called Rock Until You Drop There was a thread about this on the old board. Think there have been a few others as well. Have I remembered it right that Andy wrote the title track because he already knew that's what DW had decided the album would be called ?

I'm thinking I'd rather keep talking about this album through December rather than dwell any further on Imperfect Remedy 😁🍻
