The 50th Anniversary reissue of his debut solo is wonderful.
Notes from San Francisco, the unreleased 1977 album (which became 1978s stripped down Photo Finish) is s gem in itself also.

Just purchased the 50th Anniversary Edition of 1971s 'Deuce' yesterday. Been listening all evening and morning to the 28 or so alternate takes on bonus discs. Some wonderful takes included.
Really is an amazing album, the bonus material and live stuff included quite a treat for Rory fans.

Had a 5-hour Rory marathon the other day - revisiting the wonderful 'Check Shirt Wizard '77' archive release, Irish Tour '74 (the full Cork show), and this years 'All Around Man - Live in London 1990'. That 1990 set features lots of Rory fire. Not as blazing as his 70s live sets but an absolutely worthy addition to the live catalogue.
Never heard the BBC collection originally released in '99; it is quite amazing. Disc 1 is live, Disc 2 BBC sessions. Loved it so much I ordered the CD, still value having physical product from favourite artists.

Noticed there's now a San Diego 74 gig available to stream I'd never heard of the bbc sessions double CD. It's not available on streaming services, just got one on ebay for £3 🍻

I'd heard of the BBC Sessions but had never delved in. Delighted I finally did, most of that first disc in particular is rip-roaring Rory!
San Diego '74 was a Record Store Day release I am sure, as was the wonderful 'Cleveland Calling' - from 1972 I think, Part I is Rory in studio, playing acoustic and chatting between songs. Excellent quality. Would like a copy of the vinyl actually, also a RSD release. It is available digitally; a fine listen.

Somebody on Facebook says that Rory covered don't waste my time. That could mean he played it live.
If true would love to hear that!

There's a documentary on Sky Arts (or is it Prime? 😏 - not sure) called The Story of Rory Gallagher, or something like that. We watched the Bowie A Reality Tour film over New Year and I saw it on the menu while looking for that. I'll certainly give Rory a watch. He never played Don't Waste My Time at any of the Rory gigs I went to. I'd have remembered that! Been gone a long time has Rory, but it doesn't feel like it. Probably because there have been dozens of releases - good ones! - since his passing.

I'm just amazed at the stuff on Youtube featuring Rory, going right back to the 60s. His live act throughout the decades is certainly well-represented on video. Here he is at The Marquee in 1972 with another virtuoso display, even re-attaching his guitar strap at 6.15 without missing a note!
