That’s a real shame.
Sorry for those who were looking forward to it.
His Facebook says...
We are extremely disappointed to announce that the Australian tour has been cancelled, as it is not now financially viable due to the tight budget not allowing for all the changes to flights that would have been necessary owing to the unexpected departure of a band member in January. We are so sorry to let down all those of you who have already booked tickets, and thank Ron, the promoter, for all his efforts to rectify this situation. We very much hope to see you all in the future.

We very much hope to see you all in the future. Ron actually emailed me yesterday asking for any ideas to lift ticket sales..If you’ve read my posts, this sad news doesn’t surprise me at all. I had a gut feeling right from the start of the announcement of the tour. Going from Perth all the way to Townsville via stop offs at Melbourne Canberra Sydney Wollongong etc was a mammoth ask and very poorly planned imo. Virtually no promotion and booking venues with 500-1000+ seats...WTF!! This is why I was asking about JCQs British ‘scene’ the other day as ticket sales over here, across all cities were poor unfortunately. The fact is, apart from Aussie FF fans, John Coghlans Quo just wont pull a decent crowd over here without the help of huge promotion Sure, if it was smaller pubs like over in Britain...no problem but it’s not viable. The only way us Aussies could possibly see John would be if he came out on his own and gigged with Alan... maybe with the Brewster brothers. I feel very sorry for John as I knew he was pumped for his Aussie tour and I really hope he hasn’t taken a big hit financially.

This is from John's fb page which gives no specific reason why the tour was cancelled. He might have removed the previous post as this one is not edited. But I doubt the cancellation is due to the lead guitarist having to change at the last minute. As Gaz points out in his post, the venues were much larger than the ones John plays over here. And the tour planned was unrealistic and poorly advertised. I'm gutted for John and the band. However, I'm sure he'll put on a good show with the UK/European gigs.

Such a shame. Other than JC I also hope that Ron hasn't taken a big hit financially.
We were only going to Thirroul so it was one (or two, I can't remember) night's accommodation for us but it's in a nice hotel right on the beach so we'll still go if we can't cancel it, not really worried about that.

I have got my Canberra tickets and hadn’t purchased tickets for the gig at Anita’s Theatre yet and it was only the other day I almost pressed the accept button for accomodation at Thirroul but deep down I had a feeling the ship was about to go down unfortunately. Would’ve been good to catch up with you and rockonquo there. I’m also very disappointed at the missed opportunity to perhaps see Alan Lancaster make an appearance with John. Ah well, thems the breaks eh.

Heartbreaking to read about your bookings but also disappointment at this cancellation.
I'm sad too as I was looking forward to all your stories of gigging. Hope you get refunds and stuff.

So it was canelled due to tickets sales. Thought as much. A few comments on FB seem to think it was the fault of the frontman deciding to leave, to which I can categorically state, isn't true.
Slightly over ambitious of some people me thinks.

Will head up to Anitas Theatre this weekend for a refund on tickets.
