Just got an email from the booking company informing me of the cancellation, it includes John's original statement as posted above by paradiseflats. Here it is...
"We are extremely disappointed to announce that the Australian tour has been cancelled, as it is not now financially viable due to the tight budget not allowing for all the changes to flights that would have been necessary owing to the unexpected departure, in January, of a band member. We are so sorry to let down all those of you who have already booked tickets. We very much hope to see you all in the future."
Probably not good business to blame poor ticket sales.

The only promotion in Canberra, for example, were a bunch of pamphlets placed near the front desk of the club along with all the other acts appearing soon. My seats were in the second row in the 1000 (approx) seat auditorium so I’d estimate 70 or so tickets were sold. Perhaps if Alan was asked for advice on the viability of a shorter tour with maybe a couple of gigs in larger pubs in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, along with Alan appearing, it could’ve work better.

Yes I agree Gaz, zero promotion here too. I was at Anita's a couple of months ago and they had a large poster in the foyer but that's the only advertising for the tour that I saw outside of various JC and Quo Facebook groups and pages.
I think Ron is the person who has lost the most out of all this ☹️

I spotted a big promo posted in the city of Melbourne the other day, but nothing apart from that. A real shame the whole tour got cancelled, will have to wait for the Minehead convention now to get my JCQ fix! Luckily all our QLD bookings were refundable, but not our Adelaide ones so a short break in Adelaide coming up for us anyway.

Probably not good business to blame poor ticket sales. 🙄 John should have asked Duroc for one of their statements regarding cancelling a show . One springs to mind , a clerical error has meant the band were double booked for the same night and unfortunately the NZ gig will be cancelled .......

That’s a real shame. Sorry for those who were looking forward to it. His Facebook says... We are extremely disappointed to announce that the Australian tour has been cancelled, as it is not now financially viable due to the tight budget not allowing for all the changes to flights that would have been necessary owing to the unexpected departure of a band member in January. We are so sorry to let down all those of you who have already booked tickets, and thank Ron, the promoter, for all his efforts to rectify this situation. We very much hope to see you all in the future. Ron actually emailed me yesterday asking for any ideas to lift ticket sales..If you’ve read my posts, this sad news doesn’t surprise me at all. I had a gut feeling right from the start of the announcement of the tour. Going from Perth all the way to Townsville via stop offs at Melbourne Canberra Sydney Wollongong etc was a mammoth ask and very poorly planned imo. Virtually no promotion and booking venues with 500-1000+ seats...WTF!! This is why I was asking about JCQs British ‘scene’ the other day as ticket sales over here, across all cities were poor unfortunately. The fact is, apart from Aussie FF fans, John Coghlans Quo just wont pull a decent crowd over here without the help of huge promotion Sure, if it was smaller pubs like over in Britain...no problem but it’s not viable. The only way us Aussies could possibly see John would be if he came out on his own and gigged with Alan... maybe with the Brewster brothers. I feel very sorry for John as I knew he was pumped for his Aussie tour and I really hope he hasn’t taken a big hit financially.
Really sorry to hear this but Quo itself didn't tour in Oz for years just for this reason, the difficulty of selling enough tickets to do a geographically very long tour financially. I was assuming John & Co were doing pubs and hitch hiking! Even Iron Maiden didn't tour over there for years and only went back when they had their own plane on Mates Rates!

Probably not good business to blame poor ticket sales. 🙄 Yep, Ticketek rang me today to refund my $300. Got home today and I’ve still got the tickets to the ‘JCQ Australian Tour 2019 that never was’ ...such a shame but , in reality, it would’ve been embarrassing with so few people in a huge hall. Last night I was wondering if it might be an idea for JCQ to appear on one of those ‘Rock The Boat’ cruises that happen each year.. as in the one that Status Quo did last year along with all those other bands from the 70s/80s. Now that’s the sort of gig they’d be perfect for, followed with a few large pub gigs in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. If Alan can’t play then the JCQ gigs should be advertised as something along the line of..’and introduced by Alan Lancaster ‘. For any cred over here, then Alan needs to be involved in some capacity.

When Quo first started out all he had to do was steal something to the value of 12p and he'd be sent there forever!
