Well I waited 4 months for the album to be released, after the recording of the Glasgow concert, so this thread being a day late is no problem Victor.

Junior’s Wailing. A much better opener than Caroline?

Junior’s Wailing. A much better opener than Caroline? I always loved Caroline as an opener but certainly would have liked it if they had used this more often to vary things a bit

Quo at the peak of their powers. I'll listen to it to refresh my memories (haven't listened in a while, double albums tend to wear me out a bit). I don't really hear all the mistakes that supposedly are on it (maybe only Francis hears them?), with the exception of Alan mixing up the lyrics in "Bye Bye Johnny".

Haven't listened to the album in a while, have put it on the car radio for the next few weeks. Have been listening to FF Live at Wembley not so long ago in the car.

This is the album where I appreciated the multi minute live version of 4500 Times. Until then I wasn't impressed with the studio version from the Hello! album and when I first heard it live in Southend 1975, I was getting bored after 10 minutes and the same again at the 2 Empire Pool Wembley appearances in June and Olympia in December of the same year. At Hammersmith and Cardiff the following year, I couldn't wait for it to finish. So when I bought the Live album with a birthday record voucher in March 1977, I would skip the 16+ minute track until a few months later when a friend said that 4500 Times had grown on him after a few plays. So I forced myself to play it with the same result. The Birmingham NEC '82 version is one of my favorite live tracks by the band. As for the rest of the 'Live' album, for me it's sensational even though the track listing is in the wrong order. I always liked Juniors Wailing as the opening live track, but being biased, I prefer the Kursall ep version of Roll Over Lay Down. (9/10)

I was so wrapped up into Quo back then after seeing them the year before in Canberra 1975. Such a highlight in my life. When I read,in RAM rock magazine, that Quo were releasing a LIVE album I was counting down the days for it to arrive here. The day finally arrived and I paid for it and sheer excitement once it was in my hands. Got home and cranked volume to 10 and was in rock heaven for it's entirety..yep agree JW is a great opener with Alans gravelly voice blasting away along with John's thumping drums. This LIVE album delivered 'pure Quo live' to me in spades. Saw em again in Sydney 76,and'78 and still remember these gigs as the pinnacle of a live rock band.

(9/10) Mate, I agree that the ROLD EP version of Juniors Wailing is the best. I guess the introduction, on the LIVE album, gives JW a great kick.

Love Juniors as an opener on this with it's chug along start. One of my fave tracks. Works perfectly after the intro. One of my fave intros to any live album, ever as well...and yes my vote goes for JW over Caroline as an opener. Do like Caroline as an opener to the encore though ( won't mention how bad the encores have become as that's a different thread) . Caroline has that guitar blast That gets you straight into it. The chug along JW builds it up .

Definitive Quo. Chuck it in a time capsule, send it into space, whatever. It is THEE Quo album. Not to mention the best live album atmospherically. Pure rock. And their greatest 'hits' in one set. Whereas there might be one or two on other albums, no duffers on this one!

Four musicians, five with Bob in perfect harmony on every level. One on my very short list of perfect albums. Loved it then, love it now.
