1994, Thirsty Work . Then found NTL, BFY, OTL, & JS on vinyl at a record store in a bargain area for $2 each. I liked TW at the time but when I heard Mountain Lady & the rest of that album, I was hooked. Getting in to Quo through Thirsty Work... wow, that's a first one for me ! (Although I actually like that album) ... but don';t matter how you got into them, only that you did .. the difference between TW and NTL and the others must have been quite shocking lol...

Actually, now that I think of it, it's comparible I guess in a way with how i got into them myself (RAOTW/IYCSTH)... the difference with the albums before that was pretty big too...

Lived abroad in Kenya in the early 70s so missed out hearing any Quo until just after we returned to Blighty Christmas 1974 - in a sea of Osmonds, Peters and Lee, Mud, Rubettes etc something else grabbed my attention - Down Down was on the telly....... ....so from then on I had to play catch up on the early singles and the albums - Dog, Piledriver, Hello, Quo.....

I like that album. It's different but to me it's never been a bad album

!978 I got into them completely. I had noticed them in 75 with Down down but that went a bit past me, maybe cos i was only 11 by the time I heard it.. in 1978 I saw the clip of Accident Prone (the one with the cars tumbling down) and i thought " what the heck is THAT ? I jumped up from the couch and was glued to the tv ! someone gave me a casette with the albums RAOTW and IYCSTH 2 days later in school and from that moment on I was completely sold. Little did I knw there were better albums even in the back catalogue and some real great albums for me to come with WYW, JS and NTL which remains to be my favorite still, very closely followed by Hello and DOTH. I had the whole catalogue before ROATW within 8 weeks. Accident Prone was the first Quo song that my Dad admitted he liked. My Mum always liked them back then, and still does. I can still remember her dancing/jiving with one of the neighbours after a few Campari's to 'Mean Girl' at a Christmas party one time while my Dad drank his beer in bemusement

I'd heard the singles, Mean Girl, Caroline, Down Down etc. and really liked them. My friend and her boyfriend were going to see them at Olympia on New Year's Eve, 1975 and invited me along. That was when I fell in love with this band, 40 years ago on Thursday! Where does the time go

I think my earliest musical memories were things like the Beatles movies, the Monkees, Top Of The Pops through the glam rock era, Eurovision - even before Abba. The first band that really grabbed me were Slade & Flame was the first album I bought - also remember sneaking in to see the film too! I was aware of Quo & liked them along with people like Mott, T Rex, Sweet & Creedence - but all from the hits on the radio & tv. I still recall seeing Quo at number 1 with Down Down & on the tv live at Bingley Hall, by which time I was really grabbed by Roll Over Lay Down, Rain & Mystery Song in particular. My sister was in one of those mail order record club things & through her I got to hear the Rockin' All Over The World lp then If You Can't Stand The Heat - strangely, these albums didn't put me off the band. As soon as I had a Saturday job I started accumulating the back catalogue completely haphazardly - I had no idea what order the albums had been released in & tended to buy whatever I found that I could afford.
By '79 my sister had a boyfriend who was into Quo & had seen them at Reading '78. This lead to us going with him to see Quo at the NEC in '79 - this was before the arena had been built & so a temporary arena had been erected in the corner of one of the exhibition halls. Little did I know that I'd not see those four guys on stage together again until 2013! I couldn't make the tour in '81 but saw the Pete Kircher line up a few times in '82 & '84 - great live but the records released were shocking, although worse was to come. Despite the post Live Aid releases I did go & see the new line-up, but even live it didn't seem quite the same to me. Needless to say, I'm eternally grateful for the reunions - but I'm greedy enough to want more!

Heard WYP on the radio when it first came out as an 11 year old and been hooked ever since. Quickly bought JS, then the mighty Piledriver ! Was brought up on an Island off the west coast of Scotland so did not see them live until the late 80s. Therefore, final piece of the jigsaw fell in place in the Spring of 2013 :-)

Dad bought 12 gold Bars vol 1 and 2 in 1984 as it was half price. I was 6 I heard The Wanderer and liked that a lot. Listened to that for a few weeks in the car. He then put vol 1 on. First track I heard off that was Mystery Song (tape tracklist was reversed for some reason). That was that I was hooked, it was that intro that caught my attention. So much so that when he borrowed BFY from his cousin I refused to believe the full length version was Mystery Song to begin with.
My Uncle got me EOTR in 1985 and I never looked back.

Can't remember. Must have been around the time Slade, being local talent, first came to my notice in the seventies. First gig I attended was on the QPQ tour. Since then have done 9 CQ gigs plus 2 FF gigs 1st year and 2 FF gigs the 2nd year.
