After reading americanquo's post about the way he got into quo, i'd like to hear some others. I'll start:
i've known RAOTW for years and it was played on the radio in November 2013 i think. My mum said "would you like to see this band?" as they were on at Nottingham Arena 14th December. I said "i don't know any songs" so bought 12 Gold Bars which changed my life. I asked my mum if we could go and see them but she was busy that night. I was very disappointed but 2 dats before my uncle surprised me with tickets. We were on the back row in the stands but i didn't care. 10cc were supporting who i like as well. It was great. After that i got all the albums on vinyl and they're now the best band in the world.

Welcome to the madness of the 12 Bar, CTB! My way into the shuffle heaven was taking off through the excellent "Cosmo's Factory" by Creedence, via the youth recreation center (?) where a young Whoppa first heard the Dog album, didn't get it yet... Then came a TV-special with Roadhouse Blues and the jig, but still not quite there...THEN came '75, 14 years old, and the amusement park Gröna Lund in Stockholm. "Quite expensive entrance fee, but OK... " And WHAM! (Not the band, the feeling in my body ) Love at the first chord! Still stuck, though the picture of the personnel has faded somewhat.... Still able to get in trance off the rhythm... Amazing thing this music thing...

1) I 'borrowed' the Hello album off my older sister
2) She liked Francis most of the four of them (before getting bored with Quo and morphing with her new boyfriend into a sitting on the floor Dylan type hippy chick), but I developed an even bigger crush on Francis and his singing from the Hello album
3) Having fast scratched and worn out the stolen copy of Hello, I then bought OTL, Piledriver, and The Golden Hour within a matter of a couple of weeks
I was hooked by this time
Good things come in little bundles of three
So that will do for the time being

Funnily enough, through "Marguerita Time".
I was 8, it was Xmas '83, and my best mate's mum used to play this one to death, as well as it being all over the telly.
I kinda liked their down-to-earthness and pop sensibility then, even though i probably didn't know that was what i liked about them. Fast forward to the next single "Going Down Town Tonight" (the first record i ever bought) and the simultaneous discovery that my mate's mum had a copy of "12 Gold Bars", and my love for the pop AND the rock Quo was born.
To this day, i err slightly on the rock side, but i love it all, to varying degrees. I was young, remember!!
Didn't see them live til '91, mind you.

Saw them performing Ain't Complaining on The Roxy (ITVs short lived version of TOTP) and thought they were pretty good.
Bought the single the next day, the album shortly after and kept on going.

Big brother liked them, and 1982 was played live at my local community centre...there were loads of quo heads in those days and two guys in particular who mimicked frame and Rick ( to a tea).,,anyway the rest is history, gutted that the EOTR concert would be my first and last, and happily it wasn't to be...I like most of you, deserved to see the FF before this band finished and my journey may now be complete...don't think so though..

Unbelievable, the fact that at least two members of this very board were at the 2 legendary gigs that sums up the legacy of 70's Quo. The Kursaal and the Apollo...

1976. I'm looking through my older sister's record collection, and there, sandwiched between a Dylan album and "In the Land of Grey and Pink" by Caravan, was this brown album with a pencil drawing of four hairy guys growing out of a rubbery looking tree. "This looks interesting", I thought. On it went. From the first note of 'Backwater' to the last ringing chord of 'Slow Train', I was gobsmacked. What the fuck had I just listened to?.... Later that year, I got tickets to see them at the Apollo - the "Live" album shows - did I ever tell you I went to all three shows?.... "Quo" was the first album of theirs that I heard. It remains my favourite to this day. A stunning piece of work. & what a great album In The Land Of Grey And Pink is, one of my top ten non- Quo albums! Funnily enough, nothing else I've heard by Caravan does much for me.
