Who Gets The Love is quite a gooden... Just me on that one? I'll get my coat No you're not alone. It's a good song in its own right IMO, it's not Quo though.

I quite like Dreamin' - for pity's sake - which is totally unacceptable - unlike the songs I like on 1982, which I feel comfortable admitting. I also like Dreamin', but it's a very taboo song to like... Strange it was written in the early 70's as Naughty Girl and shoved to the side until Army, and then renamed Dreamin' because of the whole thing with Alan Dreamin was not too bad in itself, but the feckin synth trumpets spoil the whole thing for me !

Not because i'm post-85-phobic or even dislike their 80's stuff, but it's songwriting style is nothing like anything from the 70's. I don't mean the style of the music obviously, just the melody and lyrics. Maybe the person who said this (from an interview?) or typed it, meant to say/write 80's.....early 80's i could certainly believe. Having said that, i don't like it anyway.

Sorry if it's already been said but I never thought I'd admit to liking 'Don't drive my car' - I like to think of myself as a feminist and I might joke on here or there about cars but I drive a really good machine so I get uppity when I think of that song, but I have to admit to finding myself singing along to it when it's on

I think the song is a metaphor for a man telling his woman not to "run his life" Is it a macho sexist song? I support equal rights and equal pay and treat women very well, though I don't want to be told what to do. Don't control my life, don't drive my agenda.

It was from the 'Just For The Record' book. It states it to be the first Rossi and Young song... And the first track written by both Rossi and Young didn't appear until IYCSTH? So it must have been early 70's for Naughty Girl, but it could've changed drastically in those 10+ years... who knows

Rick seemed to like to tell his women in his song-writing to do as they were told. DDMC is no more sexist than BFM

RAOTW , its a naff song but if you catch it on the radio just now n then , its proper class , you can hear all four have just got it regardless of how naff a song is . The 'they just got it' never happened after 86.

I've never thought of it like that before. I guess with that line of thinking then really the song could apply to anyone - male or female- who is trying to control someone else's life. I'll play it louder now on my way home from work tonight. Thanks for that insight.

The 'they just got it' never happened after 86. My first gigs were during the RAOTW tour. I loved the song back then - despite the criticisms of the title song and album in terms of the studio sound, I can only ever remember it being received like an anthem song Live.
I'd guess that Live Aid was the last time I got a true buzz from the song. When I saw them immediately post 86 it was never the same and of course over the decades since, it has just accumulated layer after layer of parody and karaoke happy clappiness.
But I know what you mean about the radio-grab thing. In the right context it can bring back a distant recollection of how the FF intended it, however obviously commercial and jo public aimed it was even back then.

Sorry, from Thirsty Work, and Going Downtown Tonight. Same here.. I've always loved Sorry. I know most hate it but I bloody love it. Even the earlier Demis Roussos version.
