At all the Sydney gigs since 1997 QUO have had an unknown act as support. In 1978 QUO had Sydney rockers FINCH as support, FINCH changed their name to CONTRABAND when they toured the USA. They had some minor hit songs in Australia. Suzi Quatro had the right idea on her 2017 tour of Australia by having her other band with Don Powell from Slade on Drums and Andy Scott from Sweet on Guitar as QSP. She's my Daytona Demon!!

They toured with Deep Purple in 2006 and had the Screaming Jets in 2010, so maybe they'll have a reasonably well-known Aussie act as support on the 2017 tour.
An appearance by Alan and John seems highly unlikely given the date clash with the UK FTMO convention, at which John is definitely playing (and he has publicly said Alan will be there too though it is not confirmed by the organizers).

Gday Lee, imo the best support Quo had was Kevin Borich Express back in 1975. The support band they had on their last tour here was excellent... but I just don't know their name. Of all people you'd be the one to know so I'm hoping you can help. I really doubt Alan will make an appearance as I have a gut feeling the old feelings between them has appeared... thus Alan rather non complimentary comments about Francis in THAT interview not long ago.

I went to the Deep Purple gig and QUO supported them!! It would be great if my mate Dave Gleeson supported QUO!! I saw The Jets 4 Sundays in a row at The Petersham Inn in 1990. I'm not getting too old for this shit!! Energetic Rocker til my last breath. The comments by Alan in the Studio 10 interview were very cutting to the bone. I'm a massive Lancaster supporter. Mountain Lady.

Swanee supported on the tour before the Purple one (or it might have been the same one). Rhino thought he was crap! Don't mind Swanee tbh.

Don't usually post, everyone is entitled to there opinion of status quo, for me status quo finished when Rick passed away, I've been a quo fan since 1974 and my favourite period is the frantic four, it pisses me off that the band still continues trying to bleed as much money off the remaining fans they have left, the venues in austaralia are small as they know they will struggle with bigger venues, I'm definitely not going to any gigs, that's my opinion but for the ones that want to go and watch, good for u

Was gonna see the Opera House show, but the tickets are a bit expensive and a bit far for me to go. Plus a big sadness is there's no Rick. My last Quo concert was the QPQ tour in 2013 at the Hordern Pavilion & it will remain that way.

Quo back in the 70s were outa this world and I really enjoyed all the Quo gigs since '97 here, at 'the Pav'...and Wollongong, but since Ricks passing my heart doesn't beat any faster at the thought of seeing Quo again. If I lived in Sydney or Melbourne I'd defo check em out but to take 2 days off work plus accommodation...no. Last gig in Sydney, Rick threw me his plectrum and to me it was a feeling of 'thanks for your loyalty'....a perfect way to finish.

Sorry to hear that a couple of locals are not going to the Opera House gig. I respect your decision, of course, and it's not the same without Rick - but it's still very good in my opinion. Looking forward to touring Australia/NZ one last time with the band I love. If a couple of very good tickets for this gig would tempt you along, let me know (I've got two in the fourth row up for grabs here before I list them elsewhere closer to the gig).

I have been receiving ticketmaster adverts for the upcoming gig , ", hurry they'll sell fast " , just had a look at the prices and stage layout . The stage is configured so that eight blocks are taken out of the selling equation . That might make it easier to sell out !

I think the Aussie fans will judge Francis and Friends quite harshly as, bar the CQ punter, most will remember Quo as the classic 70's line up and with 3 quarters of them not around Francis will stand out like a sore thumb as the only one still hanging on. They did 'ok' with Rick still with him on previous Oz tours as a modern Quo but now he is no longer with us I can't see how Francis will go down that well as you can't pull the wool over an Aussie music fan. Maybe they will see it as a tribute act and be content with that.
