My fondest Quo memory must be the 1988 tour at the BIC. We were standing and the missus was 4 months away from dropping our first born. Boy did he kick {as he turned out to be } and so was born a life long Quo fan - as a 2 year old I remember driving the car and looking back to see a 2 year old headbanging to Can't Give You More.
Thinking on it, it could even be the Heavy Traffic tour where both son and daughter saw Quo live at Brighton. Both kids 14 and 12 were blown away. Those are the sort of days you only live through once. Once those events are gone, they are gone letsrock

Aside from the obvious (first time seeing them, FF reunion etc.) one of my best memories was at Blackpool Princess Ballroom in 93 on the Just for the Record tour. During ROLD, in the middle quiet bit, before the build up, Francis was playing his usual little simple 5 note melody - you know, the bit that goes "bow, bowww, bow-bow, bowwwww" whilst Rick is doing his arpeggio thing. Anyway - Frame usually mouths the guitar noises during this bit, and so do I. We made eye contact whilst both mouthing the notes he was playing and he did a double take with me, and it was the first time that I'd ever had a personal connection with anyone in the band. It was very exciting, because I'd never sought out a wave or a wink, and I didn't even think or was ever aware that they would look at us or notice us in the crowd. Then a bit later on in the song, he was doing some more 'note mouthing' and he looked to me, to see if I was doing it, and I wasn't and he gave me a cheeky 'caught you out, mush!' kind of grin. It was bloody brilliant. Francis has always been brilliant with their audience, and unlike some of my Dear Heroes, he also seems to be (very) aware that the "audience" does exist beyond the first four rows, as well.

PS Standing high up at Wembley Arena in the dark between tracks and hearing on the air the very faint blue twingle of an open tuned B chord as guitars were passed around and knowing that very, very soon they would start playing 4500 Times.
After a few years some roadie got tidy and started damping the strings so the twingle could not be heard. Some people are too tidy for my own good!

First gigs, Hammersmith 1977. Reading Festival 1978 (and the hot soapy bath when I got home!) Lost count of number of wonderful gigs up to and including the EOTR. The jumbo jet roar in the ears for two days afterwards. The car breaking down on Hammersmith Bridge after leaving the gig on the 1982 tour and being given hot drinks by some locals while waiting for Dad to come out on "rescue mission"

For all his faults, Francis is great with the audience, although he was out of order with his comments about those of us at the reunions.

I have a lot of great memories of Quo, but my best memory was probably Hammersmith 2013 (the first night)
I remember getting 2 tickets to gig and proper buzzing for it, none of my mates are into Quo or even rock music for that matter, so I dragged my brother with me to the gig. before the gig we had a few drinks in a couple of bars, I think I remember going into a weather spoons and it was heaving with Quo fans all in good spirits, then walking to the venue, queueing up absolutely freezing while everyone was singing Quo'oooooo over and over. Finally got in and headed straight to the bar, it was only when we heard the bass intro to Juniors wailing that we rushed in and realised we had to make do with being right at the back but it didn't matter cos the venue was small and the band were very loud, it was hot and sweaty and everyone was so happy to see this great band reunite one more time. I remember a load of us just put our arms round each other and just jumping up and down throughout the whole gig. After the gig I completly lost my voice from shouting so much.
I did wembley 2 days later which wasn't know where near as good as hammersmith but still decent.
I did hammersmith in 2014 too and although I thought the band sounded miles better (especially Rick and John) it still won't trump seeing the FF for the very first time in 2013.
Cheers.

4 years later and i'm not sure it's sunk in yet that i saw the FF......that band......those 4 guys who made that music i've spent half my bloody life listening to, over and over again. Not sure my brain will ever process it properly (if it did, it would possibly explode).
It remains, and always will remain, totally surreal.

"Is there anybody out there who wants to ROCK?!" " Tonight, LIVE at The Apollo Glasgow, we have the number 1 band in the land.......
It's probably the best LIVE album I've heard.
" WELD " by Neil Young & Crazy Horse is high on the list as well. It's much better than their 1979 LIVE album. " The King is gone but he's not forgotten, this is the story of the JOHNNY ROTTEN "
" Made In Japan " Deep Purple, spent a lot of time on the turntable in the 70's.
Bachman Turner Overdrive were/are massive in Japan where Cheap Trick recorded " LIVE at The Budokan " I digress, on BTO's Anthology Double CD is a LIVE track recorded in Japan called " Don't Get Yourself In Trouble " it's duration is 10' 35 seconds, I recommend you listen to it. The Japanese go ballistic for it.
In Australia we have a band called The New Christs who are lead by the Legendary ROB YOUNGER from the equally Legendary RADIO BIRDMAN. They recorded a LIVE album at The Excelsior Hotel on 7th May 2011, I was there that night. There have been many different line ups of this band, though this one is probably the best. No disrespect to Pete Kelly, Bill Gibson, Stevie Plunder ( RIP our brilliant SHOUT BROTHER )Christian Houllemare ( RIP ) Charlie Owen, Louis Burdett (awesome drummer )
The New Christs sell out tours in Europe where they get the respect they deserve.
Long live ROB YOUNGER, one the coolest, nice guys of Rock n Roll. But don't mess with him, he has the attitude and and acid tongue to put you in your place. For he is Lord, King and Master of Rock n Roll.

Meeting all of them in a pub in Copenhagen, having a long chat with Alan, get someone to take a pic of me and the band sitting together on a park bench outside the pub, the next day being absolute front row (stuck up on the barrier) at their EOTR-gig in Copenhagen, Alan nodding at me, smiling and miming "hello Per" during the gig. Couldnt be much better than that! two other brilliant moments was the Hammy weekends in 2013 and 2014, pure magic!

I've also done the same with francis a few times, both ending in him saying "bye" and moving on as soon as I made a mistake!

When I met Rick n Francis (autobiography signing) I took them an article I'd written for the Full Quota fanzine. Rick said he'd read it and that it was really good. He turned to francis and said "Oi, this guy wrote that, remember?" Rick signed it. My wife was a primary teacher, and explained to francis that she regularly had 30 8 year olds bopping to HYB during music lessons. Francis LOVED that story.

mine is when i met Francis and Rick at a book signing in Edinburgh, i had just arrived back from Florida the day before and was super excited to be finally meeting them.......in fact i was so excited that when it was my turn for my book i gripped Francis's hand so tight to shake it that he turned to his bouncer mouthing ouch bloody jocks and frantically shook off the over exuberant hand shake from me whilst rick laughed.
