It's seems that everybody on this board at one time or another has been in Status Quo and knows exactly what happens every minute of the bands working life.I've known my brother for 57 years but I've no idea what happens at his work, how he get's on with his mates. It'a band of strangers so what's the story, could the late Rick have been a total bastard? How would you know, all we see is the PR stuff. What is it really like to work with Alan Lancaster...how many of your best mates are still your best mates? Quo still going? I think that they got stuffed in the financial disaster of 2009 and have to keep going. They seem to have loads of fans who like what FR does with band. The FF stuff would have run out steam soon enough, matter of health as much as anything.I'm sure AL is a good bloke but how many people throw a right hander at a customs official without blinking?None of the band batted an eyelid when JC was sacked.Rossi isn't the worst guitar player ever and why shouldn't he keep it going? Financial disaster in 2009? For the band? Please enlighten me!

Btw I don't know your btother but if I had met him a few times in 57 years, I would have a fair idea how he might react to different situations, whether I had seen him every day or not No, you wouldn't. Not even if you had seen him regularly. You cannot see how people will react under life pressures until you have been through that pressure somewhere in their vicinity. (The results, I admit, are often upsetting.) I have no idea what Francis will or won't say about Rick in the future, but I'm entirely with Railroad17 on this one.

Without knowing Francis personally, we do of course have well informed insight into his personality and what makes him tick. We also have value bases in society that help us all conduct ourselves. He repeatedly said that this was all ricks fault, that the band were doing great, that richie was wonderful, and never acknowledged his mate of 50 years on stage. Now what I have just said is factual.. 'Never acknowledged his mate of 50 years'
From Francis Rossi
I was not ready for this. Rick Parfitt had been a part of my story for fifty years. Without doubt the longest relationship of my life: this was also the most satisfying, frustrating, creative and fluid. From those early days, we worked together to create the Quo sound, look and hits. We spent years on the road, on the stage and in the studio, rarely far from each other, honing what we did.
We were a team, a double act, a partnership and yet also two very different people, handling the pressures of growing older, constant touring, dealing with success and keeping the creative flame burning in different ways. He developed his own sound, his own style, casually inspiring a generation of players.
Rick was the archetypal rock star, one of the originals, he never lost his joy, his mischievous edge and his penchant for living life at high speed, high volume, high risk. His life was never boring, he was louder and faster and more carefree than the rest of us. There were any number of incidents along the way, times when he strayed into areas of true danger and yet still losing him now is still a shock. Even in a year that has claimed so many of our best, including now George Michael, Rick Parfitt stands out. I was not ready for this.

I'm assuming DQ meant since Rick was forced to leave the band, not since 1965 ffs
In terms of your examples, the statement after his death? Yes, that can be counted as a reference since he was forced to leave the band.
A documentary from 16 years ago? Jesus Christ

Financial disaster in 2009? For the band? Please enlighten me! It was just a thought Per.Lots of folks had pension wipeouts in the 2009 financial meltdown..it's just a supposition on my part, very rare on this board! Reading this, I'm reminded of a radio interview I heard where Francis said during the Recession or 2009 meltdown, "a lot of zeros fell off my bank balance." And that is why they continued to tour as much as they always had. I don't think Francis was referring to his current account but implying what RR17 is saying too. They lost money on their investments during this time too.

Er....Rick leaving Quo wasn't down to Francis.
Rick had a life threatening heart attack which he was extremely lucky to survive.
He wasn't in any fit shape to continue with Quo.
As evidenced by the fact that his "tour" next May was going to be "audience with" type shows as opposed to music gigs.
Francis didn't cause Rick's health issues.

That's all well and good Cammy....And I have a question for you.... Who in God's fucking name has even suggested anything of the kind??? Has anyone said it was Francis' fault? No! Has anyone said Francis caused it? No! So why are you feeling the need to defend him, over something no one has accused him of? I know myself and many other Quo fans have a reputation for blaming Francis for certain things (With good reason btw) but, it works both ways, as evident here

They were asking Francis about how Rick was he gave them the bare bones. Then said "Rick's going to be making a statement in the new year. He's asked us not to talk about him until then".
