My comment (as the only person to actually be at the gig from what I've read here), a very polished Quo performance. Same set as Union Chapel, good reaction from the neutrals from my spot up front, great chance to appeal to a wider audience. Didn't hear the negative comments some have posted here. Very enjoyable set, but Union Chapel was a better experience for me in the intimate venue compared to the sold out 62000 in Hyde Park. "Polished" isn't necessarily a good thing though. The reunion gigs were anything but polished. I very much doubt that the 62,000 tickets sold out due to Quo being on the bill if they couldn't sell 700 on Friday.

Burning Bridges. What a shite song, as was the original. No way should this be in the set, especially as the finisher. "I can't escape this ringing in my ears"... I remember him singing "I can't escape this Ricky in my ears". Well he has done now. BB is my guilty pleasure. Brown bullet-hole?

Looks like the back lash was so strong that they have removed any mention of the gig on the SQ FB page!

Looks like the back lash was so strong that they have removed any mention of the gig on the SQ FB page! Can you let us know what they did post and took down then? They've put on the review of the Union Chapel gig which was on metaltalk and there are plenty of negative comments under it. But I never saw anything promoting Hyde Park on there at all. So not sure what was taken down.

So not sure what was taken down. Just a bunch of people who attended said that there was so many 'raging' comments on the FB site related to the gig. This was mentioned on their personal pages so I took a look on the SQ FB page and there was nothing there. Before the gig there were the usual promo links for the BBC 2 broadcast etc... These are not there. There is actually nothing on the FB page related to the gig. Strange? Don't think so.

Well... I never thought I'd have this reaction - have I gone over to the dark side? - but I enjoyed their set. But then I wasn't listening to it as a Quo gig. And having been to the FR solo tour, yes, that is what I witnessed, the FR band.
I thought it was a country rock set with a few jigs and reels thrown in. I enjoyed the version Caroline which started slowly as one of the demos, and then speeded up after a verse. The country songs like Claudie worked best for me. And even songs I'm not keen on for Quo - WYP and Rolling Home and BB were more enjoyable in this style.
I listened on headphones and I thought Francis voice was fine. I thought Andy struggled more. And all in all, for a Sunday afternoon, concert, it was a polished, professional gig which went down well with the punters.
This hasn't converted me to Aquostic Quo. But I think it supports their argument that their songs can be played in many ways.

I was simply not interested in this at all and wasn't going to watch any of it. My wife did some channel hopping and we ended up seeing five mins of it. Polished and professional, it looked like the crowd were entertained. It was only the "Status Quo" backdrop that looked vaguely familiar. The band looked like it sounded - a light and twee country act aimed at older people. Nothing wrong with that, but an unrecognisable polar opposite of the hard rock heroes postered on my bedroom walls as a kid. Musically, I really, really don't like it. Energy wise, whats the difference standing up and doing that compared to doing it with a plugged in guitar? As others have said, Francis has recast the band in his own image, playing the music he reckons he always wanted to As I recoiled in disgust, "please switch that off", my 17 year old son told me off "You should be pleased the band you've always loved are still able to do stuff at that age. You say you wont buy the album but it will drive you mad not being able to hear. Cheer up and go with the flow". Sometimes there is no escape. It was as if the message board had crossed over into my actual life

You could always buy it for your son's chrissie present. MrWaistcoat Lovely comment though and thanks for passing it on.

"It's quite interesting though....There are people who really liked it and there is a trend....They all appear to be middle aged housewives...Maybe this band are becoming the housewife's choice?" I didnt really like it although I did LIKE it ;-) you gotta remember that us middle aged (and in my case older ) housewives were the 17 year olds who followed and loved quo in the 70's. Like quo we have erm....matured and are not as perhaps as "manic" about music as we used to be. It seems to be that many of the posters who hate quo today are far more into heavy metal and hard rock bands so they cannot accept that quo have changed ...macho image springs to mind letsrock .I loved the reunion gigs but after seeing how frail Alan was I personally could never see him being able to do many more dates so to me that was the end of that story...no point in wanting something that wasnt posssible, and to be honest I dont know how the moaners think Alan could possibly do it. Obviousy I dont know Alan and am basing my opinions on what I saw. Like some others I also thought that as they were standing and jumping about tonight they could have just done an electric set. So was it Rick who was having the most trouble with that, especially now we know about his latest heath scare? Was he showng signs of this at the first aquostics and that is why they sat? Perhaps or perhaps not and they just were not sure how to play it. . Who knows??? PS I am a Rick fan so no nonsense about "Freddie lovers" in any replies I would like to add my own stand on that. I have Always liked lots of other bands, yes, quite a lot of hardrock and metal bands but also a lot of other sorts of music. For me it has nothing to do with Quo not being heavy enough right now or whatever, but simply with the fact that I don't like the sort of music they are making. To make a comparison, Metallica changed their metal style big time after the album Black. So I didn't get anything after that album from them, not because it wasn't heavy enough but again, simply cos I didn't like the style of music they were changing into at that time. Music for me is not defined by being heavy enough or not, it's simply defined by being either good or bad. I could have liked an acoustic project by Quo very very much, if they only had done it in a different way.

It's quite interesting though....There are people who really liked it and there is a trend....They all appear to be middle aged housewives...Maybe this band are becoming the housewife's choice? Must have been young girls then when they first heard Quo. Girls do seem to grow up. They grow older... That doesn't mean they male or female mature or grow wiser. Or for that matter tastes change. My wife falls into this demographic. She still loves the music of her youth and hasn't become a lover of Val Doonican as she has matured.

I thought it was brilliant and I hope they tour next year. How many moaning posters on here? How many thousands in Hyde Park enjoying Status Quo? They went down fine... Why not, it was a greatest hits set. Nostalgia. Oh apparently they don't do that.
