When is the M&S advert being shown on tv, I want to be prepared from the stick I will no doubt get from people that know I'm a Quo fan.

Words fail me. I accidentally pressed play, there are things in life that you cannot ever unsee, sadly this is one of them.

I haven't watched it yet. I'm a bit scared I'm not a particular fan of the song. I was never that enamoured with it even back in 1977 but even I have to admit that it's become their signature tune. Whether I like it or not. So Quo (or those who are paid to arrange such things) are more than entitled to exploit it. All of those band members who are not called Francis could probably do with a pension top up Live Aid did marvellous things for a magnificent cause. Unfortunately, there was a down side. It left me (and no doubt many others) with eyes turning in my direction at many a crap night out when the song came on. Wedding receptions mostly. The occasional office Christmas party. Quo or no Quo, I'm still not buying M&S jeans I'd probably have to create my own rips in them. And I bet they're stretchy. Nasty I have a pair of M&S jeans & they're very nice - didn't get them from M&S though, there's a chap that sells some decent bargains at the local car boot every wednesday

I can't watch it but I'm not bothered. By now I'm way past being bothered by the embarrassing things they do... Same here. I did watch it but all I could think of was 'yup, this is what Status Quo has become'. They have scraped the bottom of the barrel so many times and made fools of themselves so often that another cheesy escapade is just added to their portfolio. They have been cheesy and tacky ever since Margie Time so nothing new here folks. The only saving grace for me is that Rick is not part of it so it is really Mr. Rossi doing his thing. I don't even think of it as Status Quo as it's clearly not. It's Rossi prostituting the name, and proudly so, to make a buck.

It's been ages since I watched TV. Do Argos still use "Down Down" for their adverts? Prices are down and all that. Seeing as Mystery Song has the same initials as M&S do we dare even think of?... "Oh my legs are shaking/But thanks to assistant/I got food at reasonable* price!" *=Not THAT reasonable at all.
You still have Mystery Song intact! They haven't used it! I'm sorry! But as Status Quo songs rerecorded for adverts. Could have been worse!
Edit: alright, fucking legs! Mistook it for my own life for a second.

Reminds me of a poor man’s version of the Way it Goes video.Back in 1999 Quo could probably draw a crowd in a shopping centre who still knew who they were there and were quite happy to join in. This M&S advert is clearly to keep the dosh coming with naffness taken to a level that is impossible to defend.

And over a decade since the Coles adverts. You could say this is the perfect combo of them both.

You know as well as I that Rick would have taken up the opportunity to do it as well.

If they do end up playing this song on repeat in stores i feel sorry for the poor staff members who will be fed up with this new version of Rockin by the end of one of their shifts.
Beating a dead horse with the song and Quo IMO i mean the board meeting for this PR stunt must of been interesting them going thru a bunch of bands or artists who will do anything for a quick buck and to get some relevance. The Argo's ad back in the day was better then this

Actually I preferred the Coles ad - Rick was in it, song sounded better, and it wasn't obviously taken seriously...the guitars distracted though.

I'd do it for the dosh. I have no artistic integrity whatsoever. I'm also quite mercenary I think someone mentioned that it was indefensible. It needs no defence. It is what it is. But, I agree; Madrid it isn't. I'll be in M&S later mulling over all the goodies in the food hall. If they play it, look on the news for ' man arrested for rockin' all over the vegetable aisle; grabs giant leek as an air guitar'
