Spinning Wheel Blues played during The Great Pottery Throwdown eh? My wife loves that programme, I dont watch it. As she hates Quo, she would not have recognised it anyhow. Just a pity I was not around to hear it when it was played. I can imagine the look of anger and disgust from her as I would singalong along with my air guitar!
Anyway, in yesterdays Sunday Times magazine in a big article, a reporter was assigned to spend 24 hours in a Wetherspoons pub/hotel in Birmingham. He interviews various clientele, one of them he described as 'Dave 59, a factory worker wearing a leather jacket with a Status Quo UK tour 1984 T-shirt underneath ( he saw them on that tour at the NEC)'. He also said Dave was on his 3rd pint and it was only 9am!

Ah I'm a subscriber to the Times, it's my newspaper of choice as I find it fairly neutral, balanced and mainly of the centre ground politically, it will tilt to any of Conservative, Labour and Liberals accordingly. Anyway, I still get the newspaper everyday, even though I get digital access too, I prefer the physical product, but haven't actually got around to reading Sundays mag, so will have a look at that! Just found it, "shortly after, five lads arrive. They have travelled in from Droitwich to spend the day "getting pissed" to celebrate the birthday of Lewis William, 23. They tuck into their fry-ups and pints of Carling and San Miguel. By 8.45am Tony is on his fourth pint."

The jukebox had played Modern Romance. Anyone heard the wickes radio ad? I think a cover of this is in the background.

Big Quo reference at 2:04, a song is actually requested. Guess Talos wasn't a Quo fan then.

Dabbled with Molly Hatchet very briefly - probably late 70's/early 80's while the NWOBHM was strutting its stuff and rock bands were getting airplay. I grabbed two singles; Flirtin' With Disaster and Bounty Hunter. I think Boogie No More was the B-side of one of them. I'd have to check and I can't be ar$ed Didn't encourage me to buy a whole album. At the time, Spider were fulfilling my 12-bar needs while Quo had no product out. As for random Quo mentions, I haven't seen or heard one for a while. Last track I heard was probably watching "Life on Mars" on demand - again! - when up popped Good Thinking. Now THAT must have taken some research "Dabbled with Molly Hatchet very briefly". Wife okay with that Mort?

Big Quo reference at 2:04, a song is actually requested. Guess Talos wasn't a Quo fan then. I've looked into this and found the following info about him, it points to Quo fandom. "The island was 260 km long and Talos had to cover this distance 3 times a day." Again & Again "Translator Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) notes that the Argonautica's Talos story is somewhat reminiscent of the story of Achilles' heel" "The song "Lazy Poker Blues", written by Peter Green, was covered by Status Quo on their 1971 album Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon." "Talos threw rocks at any approaching ship to protect his island" Stones.

Gene Simmons once stated that the photo on the Kiss Alive album was the Status Quo pose. The photo was actually taken in the Michigan Palace, not Cobo Hall. link about half way down

Yesterday, while I was watching Homes Under The Hammer (don't ask), they played ITAN because one of the purchasers was a paratrooper.

I’m having a short holiday into Melbourne and had a brief Quo moment in a visit to an antique shop. Within a minute of walking in and perusing what was on offer, Pictures of Matchstick Men came on.. cool I thought. Then while it was playing I went to the second hand albums section where, in front of the very first box of records was, Picturesque Matchsticable Songs Of The Status Quo selling for $40!! I removed the record from its sleeve and noticed some serious scratches on both sides so I didn’t buy it. I thought it a very coincidental moment.
