Ok, its pretty obvious that the whole of the Marquee gig was filmed. So the big question is, where the fcuk is the rest of the footage?! It's shocking the lack of quality footage of Quo at their peak. The Beatles have just had 7 or 8 hours of stuff released from 1969(?) in super high definition....... how?!! Yet Quo, hardly anything about. Even End of the Road has been lost...... It's an if someone in the band hates the old Quo and is blocking/hiding stuff...........oh, wait a minute!!!

Sadly, it would not surprise me if that is the case and always has been. Lets face it Frame has spent the 37 years distancing himself from the old (real) Quo and never, ever showing it any respect or recognition. He must have the final say on whether any 70's material (if it exists) and even EOTR material sees the light of day. Anything that shows them at their peak would be a kick in teeth to Mr. Rossi.

I think this is a factor of the record company. If there's no money to make, they don't want to risk.

I bet he has tonnes of stuff. He did, but it's all been getting digitised for the past 20 years or so. It's no longer in his possession. However, a lot of early 70s stuff after the PYE days and prior to Blue For You is non existent. Not in the UK archives or the infamous Iron Mountain Vault in the USA.

So frustrating that more of this can't be found! However, I would say that this is your finest work to date, Luke. Much appreciated, mate. Get into the restoration business!

Basically, the period I'm always banging on about. The peak of their powers. The Quo no one remembers because they've been obliterated from history. It is something resembling a crime. There aren't many well established bands from that time who haven't come up with at least something to document their 70's pomp. I suppose having your gig broadcast on TV helped; a la Queen at Hammersmith Odeon using just one example. Quo had to wait until 1982 with the NEC and Dortmund but I guess we should be thankful for small mercies. The Stafford Bingley Hall gig was obviously filmed (by ITV?) but I think that's all been destroyed now Just as a matter of interest, do any other artists' performances from that week still exist? I'm thinking David Essex, The Real Thing, all that sort of stuff. Just musing

Just musing Quo's tracks that were broadcast as part of the Rock Pop Awards show still exist on the broadcast master, but full show will have been wiped unless it was acquired by the band (don't think it was). Big Fat Mama was definitely edited / mixed for use on the show but wasn't in the end. A shot at the start of the programme can be seen from this and a short section of audio - along with another snippet of the crowd singing You'll Never Walk Alone (used to open up the programme)

I don't suppose anyone foresaw the future. Even at the time of the Stafford gig, video tapes and recorders were unknown, certainly in the UK. They were still a couple of years away. Apart from the obvious, glaring gap in rock history, I guess I'm just jealous when I see old film of acts from that era being uncovered and given a DVD release. The amount of Rory Gallagher footage around is another example. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band is another act where footage is thin on the ground. My favourite two bands. Trust me!

same with Pink Floyd in the 70's from 1973 up to The Wall there is no pro shot footage from their peak no pro shot Animals 77 footage none from the previous tour apart from a snippet from Knebworth 75 from a French TV broadcast. Though lots of Super 8 amateur footage has been found and upgraded by fans to 4k over the last 2 years. Another band like Quo who did not think to document themselves for archive purposes.
The Who, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin all have lots of stuff pro shot from the 70's released on DVD's now and more stuff in the vaults. The Who have been uploading a lot of old clips onto their youtube channel over the last month or so.
I randomly saw a full T-Rex concert from 1972 Wembley Empire Pool yesterday and that footage looks incredible for how old it is and how its been restored

The band performed 2 concerts on the same day in March 72 and Ringo Starr did a lot of the filming. It took over 2 years to restore the original concert, over 1000 hours of editing the footage and Tony Visconti restored and remixed the sound.

That T Rex footage is excellent.
It captures the band live (and properly) away from the confines and mimicry of the Top of the Pops and Old Grey Whistle Test studios, which is what we're mostly left with now.
