Ah yeah - I remember AG, it used to be good [well, relatively speaking!] I was at that Slane gig too. Sad to say, but tbh just Queen didn't 'work' for me that particular day - I was actually bored rigid [and f&*%in' soaking wet] by the end of it.

Heard that from so many people Probably the facts that Brian got hit with a can of Harp, Freddie was constantly breaking up fights in the crowd and that they were on at 4pm in the day

Heard that from so many people Probably the facts that Brian got hit with a can of Harp, Freddie was constantly breaking up fights in the crowd and that they were on at 4pm in the day I was waaay up the back that day - it had been pi**ing rain on and off all day - the support bands weren't up to much [but at least The Bangles had some life to them] esp. Chris Rea whose slow blues-ish set was goddamn awful and NOT the right artist-type for a big open air gig at all - I did a passable impression of horse-standing-up-sleeping for that.
Didn't know about BM getting skulled with a can of beer; as I say we were so far back all we could see was that there was idiot-ness going on down the front - those f*ckers are everywhere and will [and still do] ruin the best of gigs. I'm as 'guitar' as anybody else on here but I just can't listen to BM's meandering and wem-copicat laden 'solo' anymore. Once you've heard it a few times it becomes a monstrous repetitive [no pun intended] bore-fest - and his playing 'Danny Boy' came across as just a daft attempt to ingratiate him/the band to a predominantly, obviously, not-British audience who [predictably and fair enough, imho] wouldn't want to hear GSTQ at the end. No. I don't have any happy memories of that gig. Well, except Hammer to Fall, One Vision and TYMD!

It's 50 years ago today, that I saw Status Quo at the Harlow Playhouse, as we were living in Harlow at the time, 3 weeks before my 15th birthday, my sister took me along as I was always playing her Dog Of Two Head album. To be honest all I can remember about the gig, that it was loud.

Ok, its pretty obvious that the whole of the Marquee gig was filmed. So the big question is, where the fcuk is the rest of the footage?!

Angus Young is the biggest offender of that. As someone who gigs and makes music, I'd love to play Slane Castle (Never happening) I used to work there and been to a lot of gigs and events there but, it's a nightmare getting home and outta there and I only live a 10 min drive from the place ffs. I do wonder why Quo weren't playing that day. I also wonder why they never headlined before 1985. Saw the bootleg of the Queen gig on YouTube. Looks and sounds cack. Stupid putting them on at 4pm

Going live tomorrow at 17:30 (GMT) Thats sensational Luke and thank you. Just like putting on a brand new set of specs. On another thread someone asked was John any good?, .. well there’s all the proof you need. The 4 of them were perfect. My dream still is that this type of classic footage will eventually be a available on Virtual Reality. I believe it’ll happen.

This is great, who are they? It's the band that gave us those timeless classics "Let me Fly" and "I'm Giving up my Worrying".
