Not many 60s tracks get posted individually so thought would post something different. This seems to be very Beatles circa Sergeant pepper/Magical mystery tour influenced. Rick is doing his best Lennon impression it seems. Always found this one a little far out for the album but it works as a piece of typical psychedelia for that period..

I heard this on the radio once, bizarrely. BFBS iirc.
I like it as a track; the stereo mix is definitely a lot better, but that's true of most of the album because of the "brash" sound, especially with some of the orchestration.

I've never really liked anything by Quo from that era. There aren't really any exceptions. Maybe some that are just OK. This isn't one of them It's got a Syd Barrett Pink Floyd feel to it at the start before Lennon kicks in. A kaleidoscope of influences, to give it late 60's context Weird. Makes me feel like growing a beard and sitting in a darkened room. Like, heavy, maaaaaan

Far too heavy on the histrionic parpy horns and string orchestra. Not too sure there's much of a tune if you strip all that away, although the 'verses' are quite pretty.
Sounds like John Schroeder had big ambitions for them sound-wise, but if he was trying to out-George Martin George Martin, he was a couple of years too late, and it's a bit amateur sounding in comparison, and comes off as far too mature a sound for Quo, not really a fun or experimental sound at all, quite a controlled studio project by the sound of it.
Nothing At All, on the other hand, is done just right.
But psychedelic? Not really i wouldn't say. Baroque pop i think they call it?

don't think I've listened to it in 40 years or so! Managed about a minute of it just now. Certainly doesn't sound like a band effort
I struggle to know whether it's rick or alan singing those early songs

The only "lead" vocal Alan takes on this album is on You're Just What I Was Looking For Today. He sings the main melody "Hey little woman....." etc. then Rick comes in on the "Good things seem to happen to you...."

On Ma Kelly's the only one that I still don't know who sings is Lazy Poker Blues, but the 2 first...Still struggling.

It's still Rick singing it. With backing vocals of Roy Lynes, I believe (those high pitched vocals); but could be Alan's.
