Meant to ask, on the deluxe RAOTW, is the original album version re-remastered? Or is it the Tim Turan remaster still?
Thanks.

So then... sound quality wise (with regards to the dynamic range value etc... which I know everyone on here loves to discuss LOL) which are the definite releases? Can any confirm this? It would be an expensive purchase to get everything!

And better still are the Japanese SHM-CD remasters that were done 2-3 years ago - NOT to be confused with the current crop of Japanese SHM-CD vinyl replicas which are the Andy Pearce remasters - these were remastered by someone at Universal Music Japan, released 2013 and promoted as a 5 album set, Piledriver>BFY.

I've got them all Gav. Andy Pearce ones are better than the 2005 ones. The Japanese SHM-CDs are high quality pressings of the 2005 ones. I only want to listen to the CF ones.
I'd rank them like this (best first):
Culture Factory 2015 Andy Pearce Japanese SHM 2005 Tim Turan
Cheers.

Cheers for the reply lazypokerblues ;-) Can you then confirm if, as Gav says, the current crop of Japanese SHM-CD vinyl replicas are definitely better quality pressings of the standard official 2015 Andy Pearce releases? I know I'm probably going to get shot down for this... but what's the dynamic range value like of the Culture Factory releases compared to the standard official 2015 Andy Pearce releases? (Jaysus!!! All these different releases and different quality releases are LITERALLY confusing that feckin' life out of me LOL It's NUTS!!!! LOL)

Just found this article regarding SHM CD's and it's quite an interesting read. From a quick read through... I've picked up that the whole SHM thing is nonsense! Obviously, I am not in a position to comment either way (as I have nothing to compare with), but I'll have a good think about what to do... oh, life can be so hard!! There's the 5-set that were released in 2013, and the Japanese ones that are being released this year. From what i understand, the 2013 ones were remastered by a Japanese guy for Universal Japan, and the 2016 ones as you say are HQ pressings of the Tim Turan remasters. Each to their own of course, but i've read a lot about how the Tim Turan remasters are sonically inferior anyway (and thus the 2016 ones will be too) which is reflected in your ranking. But i've also read a LOT about the Japanese guy's remastering being superior to the whole lot!! And i've read little to nothing on any Quo board about these particular releases so am still wondering whether this carries weight. I'm not much of an audiophile so am really just trying to get a general picture. Cheers for your input.

Gav - yes it's getting a bit confusing. The SHM CDs that I have got are the 5 set from 2013, the 5 classic albums from Piledriver through to Blue For You. They are beautifully packaged, as only the Japanese can - with very accurate attention to detail, replicating the original vinyl editions perfectly. As for the sound quality of them - they are better than the Tim Turan versions, but they are very similar to the 'Deluxe' versions. I have ripped all my CDs to FLAC files and I play them back through a Linn system so I hear every last nuance that's imprinted on the CDs.
I would compare the differences between the Japanese and Deluxe version as simply 'different' - like for example between Kenco or Nescafe instant coffee.
Whereas the Culture Factory version are like freshly ground coffee bean to cup espresso machine quality!
If you want to PM me your address I don't mind burning a few tracks on to a CD to send you a sample so you can make your own mind up.
Cheers.

Xland - sorry I missed your earlier post and didn't reply! How rude of me. You will definitely hear the difference with the CF versions. Loads more detail and 'wallop' (technical term ).

Hey mate, not sure if you missed my reply as well? :-) I've done a good bit of research since... and it's a toss up between the CF and the 2016 Japanese SHM-CD vinyl replicas (link below) Although, whilst doing research on the whole SHM thing... there's a real battle as to whether there is ANY difference between standard CD and SHM- CD at all, when run through various analyzing programs... it could go on forever LOL But you reckon above anything... the CF are the best in terms of dynamics? www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/status-quo-japanese-reissues/

I haven't analysed the dynamics with any software, mate, so I can't be 100% certain. They're certainly louder, and some people might argue that it's because they've been compressed, and if that's the case then it would mess with the dynamics. Hang on, I'll go stick some clips on you tube and post a link...
