The album has hooks which weren't as apparent on QPQ. I can't get some of the vocal hooks out of my head - the two different phrasings of "Out of time" between the lead and backing vocals - messy - love it!!!! The chorus of Liberty Lane, and more.
This isn't the FF, not worth comparing. The recording technologies are massively different and so are the personnel, so you really can't compare. Judge it on it's own merits but it is worth more than one listen - for years (decades) now Quo's songwriting i.e. mostly Rossi has improved with listens - you pick up more stuff. And for those 'skipping through' - don't bother - you won't like it. Don't the band deserve more than that?
I'm still enjoying the album.

Well, my deluxe edition of Backbone arrived the other day. I listened to it in the car with volume down as Mrs G was with me...if I turn something up she’ll say turn it down, are you deaf?😀 Yesterday I finally had the car and highway to myself and cranked up the volume of my Bose, with sub woofer, stereo way up and listened to it as it should be listened... rear view mirror vibrating with every beat, and must say I was very impressed (minus a couple of duds) with Quo’s effort. I reckon the sound is brilliant and Rhinos bass really rocks on some tracks. Only listened a couple of times but so far up big thumbs up from me. So glad I got Get Out Of My Head on the deluxe CD. If its the same as the UK version, Get out of my Head is track 10 on the proper album, and it's Face the Music which is a bonus track. I love them both, think I actually prefer FTM, it's so catchy, although not as heavy as GOOMH. Face The Music is amongst the prime songs on the album (well, should be on the album anyway) - I'm personally not that keen on Get Out Of My Head.

I love Better Take Care. The lyrics are about looking after our planet written from the point of view of the Earth. Very clever by John David and very apt now. It is great that there are 2 songs about the environment on the album.
See you out there somewhere soon guys...

Piledriver,Hello,Quo,On The Level and Blue For You it ain't ..but.. it's still has that "thing" that no one else can even get close to. I smile when all the incarnations of this band can just amble on stage at big festivals usually at the worst time of day and still STILL blow them all sideways with even die hard detractors having a great time..and isn't that what matters?

Not sure there are any stand out tracks as such.
However it's the best overall al album in many a year.
No real duffers and well thought out
Credit to the band for putting it together.
Ps I lied.
Waiting for a woman is seriously STAND OUT.

Haven't listened to Backbone for a couple of weeks. I think I have been listening to it three times in total. The memory is already beginning to fade. That's not a good sign. There is nothing on this album that stands out.

There is nothing on this album that stands out. Correct,it’s pretty much forgettable.Even more so when the band decide to tour to support it 15 months after it’s release.Great move by Porter, must be some reason for it 🙄 Cheers
