I feel so stupid I only just found out Bernie died in 2019 by accident while doing a Wikipedia search. Why was this never on the news? Oh shit! I didn't know either.

I haven’t read all the above posts so apologies if duplicated anything. Reading previous threads and fan posts apparently he disappeared not long after Under the influence was finished his last writing contributions for the band. Apparently he had a tough time in the intervening years and no one in the Quo camp ever heard from him again. There was no official news in any music obituary or media maybe his family wanted to keep things private.

Oh shit! I didn't know either. Me neither! Hard to believe how news of Bernies death escaped so many fans, and how it's escaped so many interviews, especially from Rossi. It's like I'm in a 5 year delayed shock

I thought I'd posted on this ages ago but it seems I didn't. I did somewhere! I think there was some debate on the old message board about the "Frost" who co-wrote A Year with some crediting it to a bloke that was in a prog-rock band at the time. Can remember his name or the band. I think the general consensus is that it was Bernie though. I guess for over 20 years he was a regular contributor to the Quo catalogue; from about 1978 to 1999. So his place in the band's history is assured. He took similar stick from fans the way that Andy often does, although for different reasons but both, I suppose, stand accused of watering and even commercialising the old Quo sound down. Nonsense of course; the band just slightly changed direction en masse. Bottom line for me is he contributed to Quo's best ever 'slow' song. Their best by a very long way. And much, much more 👍

It was suggested that the song may have been co-written by Jack Lancaster, formerly of Blodwyn Pig, who worked with Bernie on a number of 1970s projects.

Where did Bernie go after 1999?Was he in prison?
Even Rick in the book published in 2004 said he literally just disappeared.
Surely he would have been fine financially with songwriting royalties?

Nice one 👍 I knew there was something. But my memory ain't what it was Incidentally, was it ever settled? I've always presumed it was Alan.

Nothing disrespectful towards Bernie or anyone for that matter, but it does beg the question why after such a long and large contribution for Quo wasn't it widely announced of Bernie death? Plus why did he seem to disappear in 1999? I can't imagine he fell out with anyone in the band. Bernie not an official member I get that, but his song writing credits were so prolific for the band, his influence was well and truely stamped all over Quo,its like he was the 6th member, or 5th depending on the period.
