It would be interesting to know who has actually heard the album and who is just going on industry gossip. Certainly the two people on here who will definitely have heard it will be keeping their own council. I was talking to a highly respected reviewer over here in Germany and he said it's without doubt their best album since '81. Not that that will stop the negativity on here. Approaching it with an open mind would make a refreshing change. I'm curious, are you allowed to say his name, or at least what mags he works for? My one thought when I heard the first single was the same as when I heard LNOTE: Rick's voice is missing, more so than his guitar. The harmonies of FR & RP "made" Quo's sound for such a long time, it's hard to accept Quo without that.

Personally I am hoping for better than 1982. At least 1982 was recorded by 3/4 of the classic line up.Even if it wasn’t one of they’re better albums I’d take it over anything recorded since 86.And live they were able to still back it all up with the great PK on drums and decent performances.Something that can rarely be said about this latest imitation of Quo IMO Cheers

I think there are a few albums better post 1986 than 1982.

It’s a poor album imho and I’m sure 3/4 of this forum agree. Even the band now agree on that ! To me ‘ Heavy Traffic ‘ & even ‘ QPQ ‘ are better albums. And RTYD as well for that matter. But taste is an individual thing so there isn’t a right or wrong opinion.

Except for Jealousy, I think most tracks on 1982 feature the full band. But they subsequently played virtually nothing live off it. This can't be said about most of the post-86 albums.

I do like QPQ and Under the Influence...But like 1982 as well. Quite frankly I don't think those albums can really be compared, they are too different for that. !982 still had some of the spirit from before. While QPQ and UTI for me are very nice albums, they are also different albums. (Although QPQ has certainly some NTL elements in it. But I prefer 1982 above everything after except the two albums I just mentioned

Francis has said in his book that Rick was absent at recording sessions in the making of some albums. From what I understand, 1982 was one of these. Degrees of absence?...as Rick is on vocals on Resurrection, for instance. Andy Bown had played a significant amount on the album. Rossi was keen for him to be credited on the back cover of the album as a band member.
