The audience back in the 70s was totally different too, 40 years younger, I don't know about most other people who are regular gig goers but my body just isn't up to jumping up and down and headbanging now. I mostly sit and will clap, doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed seeing whichever band it may be just as much as I did when I was in my 20s.

Only going by the Oxford English Dictionary entry. That’s the legal difinative. I would say any band doing cover versions in a club or pub is Cabaret. Cabaret is entertainment in intimate venues is it not ? The dictionary may hold the legal definition but people don't think the size or type of venue when they use the word cabaret. They think the type of performance, i.e. theatrical, as per the dictionary definition. Note how the dictionary also states "mainly distinguished by the performance venue ", meaning that the use of the word isn't solely determined by venue.

We beg to differ. As per Bluehighway,I’m too old to Mosh Pit and Bang my head. I got that out of my system many a year ago so yes I’ll participate in a gig by watching and clapping. Mainly standing but sitting down occasionally. How very Cabaret...lol.

I also don’t expect it to sound like ‘Hello’ or matching up to that. For me I can take things on merit. Or should I say give it a chance. Irrespective of the band being without Rick. That’s not being disrespectful as I celebrate his life with my favourite band. No one can ever take that away from him. But we all move on and get a day older ourselves. I just feel that no matter what the band now bring out. Even if it did happen to turn out a great album that some people would just rubbish it because it’s only Francis band. On a hiding to nothing springs to mind. You have just about admitted negativity with Rick not there ! But at least you say you would give it a listen but I feel your anguish about it all. Maybe some people date not go there because they feel a huge amount of guilt thinking it’s disrespectful to Rick but in reality it isn’t !! Would you give credit if the new album at least stood up to QPQ ? You must admit yourself there are various people here who just love to ridicule for the sake of it because it’s no longer a Frantic line up. Yes I know that’s a majority rule on here fair enough. But I hope that we are continued to be allowed to give our opinions even if In a minority here. I’m not getting at anyone personally here it’s just my opinion and views on what I read. There's no 'majority rule' on here and we don't censor any opinions on the band whatsoever. Yours is as welcome and valid as anyone. We're all allowed to disagree on a subjective matter! For me, it was summed up by Alan on the Quo convention DVD. It's a 'spirit thing'...you can't replicate it no matter how proficient the replacements. Queen, Foreigner, Journey, all have had excellent replacement singers, but there's not the same excitement seeing these artists. I know that doesn't matter to many folk. If you look at the other Quo message board, many of the members there openly say how the 'music' is all that matters. I would say that for the majority on here it runs a lot deeper than that.

I agree you can’t replicate it. It was a moment in time 40 odd years ago created by those individuals. When I was at the perfect time of my life to welcome it. To be honest I’m glad it can’t be replicated. It happened like everything in life happens ! I don’t think that gives anyone the moral ground to say that they need change the name or pack in. They have the FF History secured. Rubber stamped. Cannot be taken away from those individuals. Just let the current band play on. It’s their choice.
I know we won’t change anyone’s personal opinion but it’s a nice healthy debate lol.

Very rarely get involved in these topics, but it's simple, nobody is making you buy/watch albums/DVD's etc.......so why comment? I am a big fan of Queen (Freddie era), I have no interest in them today but I don't slag them off. You don't slag them off. Others do.
Being negative is a sore point with people because we like to think of ourselves as anything but. But it's not just about ourselves. Negativity is in our human nature. The best any of us can do is try and resolve it.
Why comment on someone's negativity, for example? Because you can. Same reason. I totally get the sentiment of your post by the way. It's all valid.

No matter how petty you consider the critique, you've got to remember it's coming from a real place, a strong opinion, and you can't just dismiss that, even if it sounds petty - and you won't change that person's opinion either!
Folk's emotions really do dictate how their ears hear things.
