I don't mind Baby Boy at all, I just wish it was closer to the demo we got on the RAOTW John Eden remix cd. Love the guitar sound and bass drum on that demo.

Whoami put something on here - September 2016, and its a video of John Eden on the mixing desk stripping this track down, very interesting, I'm sure one of you young 'un's could retrieve and get it back on here?

I remember John taking those videos down off of his facebook page... which I can't seem to find now either

The footage of John Eden at the mixing desk is amazing.
All the work that went in to RAOTW, which was interesting as John outlines, was lost in the overall end mix in 1977.
In this footage with John, Quo in 1977 sound experimental and almost like Pink Floyd. It certainly shows their talent and versatility.
I distinctly remember however the day, on release, that I sat down with a friend for our first listen of RAOTW. As it played we kept looking at each other and saying what is wrong, fiddling with the treble, bass and balance knobs, looking at the needle, checking if the speakers were properly connected etc., and eventually we concluded that the pressing must be wrong/faulty as it definitely didn't sound right, too thin and hollow and not the warm and full Status Quo wall of sound we had come to love.
It was disappointing to find out it was not a bad pressing but the product as intended.

Minor key syncopation, world weary lyrics. What's not to like? Thinking about that Mike Hann article from 2016 posted lately, if you slow this down enough it could sound a bit like Leonard Cohen
