Utterly brilliant and timeless! Did you catch this when it came out? I watched it on youtube, love the simplicity of just Richard on piano and Jeff on guitar, though I do love the lushness of sound with strings added, I always felt it was a shame towards the end of the classic ELO period that he used them less and less.

Yep, he was also under the dreaded 'contractual obligations', and the last album, Balance of Power was put out under duress. He'd seen the record company slash Secret Messages from a double to a single lp release and I've no doubt he was just fed up at that point. Still managed a few great tunes though! Face the Music, Eldorado, A New World Record, Out of the Blue, just fabulous music.

I know it was different in sound and mainly a solo album but I actually really liked Balance of Power when it came out and it's still a regular on my stereogram now, melodically it was top notch and great singing and harmonies as usual though I missed Kelly's voice.

The remastered version, with the original 'ELO intro' and the original version of Heaven Only Knows is worth getting hold of.

Wee fan review (not mine) of the premiere last night in that London.
Hi all, Long time Showdown List member but only just joined the FB group.
I was lucky enough to win the recent comp and got to attend last night's premiere of "Wembley or Bust" will share a few vids and pics later.
What a wonderful evening last night was. I did manage to ask Jeff a question about when the next album was due.
Great news is that it is very firmly in his plans for next year, he has 6 songs already and hopes to get to 10 which he says is a nice number for an album. He plans to tour the US more next time round but Europe will again feature in the itinerary. Not sure exact timing of the album as he is rebuilding the Bungalow and therefore his studio soon.
The crowd of around 70/80 were mainly music industry or journalists. I did come across as a bit of a fanboy but what the hell. Thanked Jeff for all the music.
Met Trevor Francis, long time friend of Jeff's and he has to be one of the nicest guys around. For those that don't know him, he was a Birmingham City player who became the 1st £1m transfer and went on to lift the European Cup with Nottingham Forest. He was at a party the night before attended by Jeff (after his gig), Tony Iommi of Sabbath and Jasper Carrott who is recovering very well from his operation of 3 months ago.
I can honestly say that the concert will blow you all away again. The detail taken with the visual & audio make it exceptional and I will eat my hat if you don't think it's the best concert bluray/dvd you've ever seen.
Lovely to meet Jess Cox at the end who was delightful. She genuinely enjoys playing with Jeff and loves the music. Unfortunately no one else from the band could attend as they are busy with Take That at the moment. As expected, Donovan Hepburn is a cool dude apparently!!!!

Im not going to say its rubbish. But just cant get away with ELO.
To my ear its so bland, like a subpar Beatles.
However each to their own.

Brilliant clips. I loved ELO back in the day, but I never saw them live. Jeff Lynne always has a good word about Quo. Top man and a class act!

Just listened to it.. Wembley or Bust.
Some great live versions of some classic tracks but personally seem let down by the production. The sound just seems flat.
Anyone else or am I being picky?

After just listening to the CD, It sounds like it has a shit load of overdubs. Probably sounds flat from overproduction.
