Saw JCQ last night (Sat 29th) at a new venue that's only been open for about 7 months. Managed to get myself plus 2 on the guest list. What a bloody cracking night of Quo. I love that feeling of the drums & bass hitting you in the chest. Really heavy feel to the band. Not sure if they've slowed a few tracks down a touch to give more power or just due to JC not being as young! Whatever the reason it worked a treat. Loved the feel and vibe of all the tracks they selected to play. The playlist was the same as the one ptquo supplied from the Putney gig (with Down the Dustpipe ) I was lucky enough to go backstage and get to chat with JC and all the other guys at the interval (Mick, Rick & Rick). Some of the stories JC recites are wonderful, I could listen to him for hours. The whole evening reminded me of those last F4 gigs from a few years ago. Highlights from the set for myself would be (April) Spring, Summer and Wednesdays, Big Fat Mama & A Year. His drumming on the latter was truly amazing and sounded great with those mallets. Having said that, the whole band played exceptionally well. Rick Chase's voice on BFM was bloody fantastic. A really great night. 9.75/10. If they had played Spinning Wheel Blues then it would be 10.
