I would say WYW,Shady Lady and Your Smiling Face. YSF is the weakest followed by SL. WYW is just overplayed an not really that weak if you give it a chance again. I remember being less sold on WYW as a single at the time compared to the likes of Caroline and Down Down that had come before it earlier in the 70's. So it was never a favourite back in the day long before it became a karaoke love-in.

Sorry Folks, this is one album I can't discriminate against any of the songs. I love YSF and Runaway and High Flyer. I love the whole album. In fact, I really love Runaway so much I've put the cd on and programmed track 8 as High Flyer is only on the vinyl version. "Seems like the logical way at the time" I remember Nigel at Sandy's Records in Dee Why telling me this was a "concept album" Was he right, is there a common thread running through this album and what is it? ?? Dee Why is a suburb on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. May be the concept is that there are no bad songs on it You can now get the full album on CD same with Just Supposin.

Would never call it a concept album, it's real life!

Your Smiling Face & Runaway were easy choices for me. Choosing a 3rd was hard, but High Flyer edged it...
I actually like Come Rock With Me & Rockin On!

It was prog rock bands that produced true "concept albums". My older sister was an authority on those in her Uni days. Her album collection said it all.
There is an obvious theme rippling through this Quo album, but in my opinion its a stretch to call it a concept album. They were far too cool for all that...

CRWM/RO were easy choices. Although I like it, went for breaking away. Love the bits added in (4 rockers rolling & the bluesy ending), but for me the main song is francis trying to sound like the Eagles....and the band trying to recreate epic past glories.
I'd forgotten about Hard Ride - really good song and would have fitted well. I think bad company is welcomed because we got it so recently - I'm not sure it would have been well received at the time.
And btw, I love your smiling face and always have! Same with Runaway - was that a b side? I have vague memories of hearing it first that way before I got the WYW album. The intro, solo and end are all great. Doesn't sound remotely like a pop song to me!

Your Smiling Face is a "Stonesy" lovely piece of happiness. OK ok,not the wisest lyrics, ain't PC, but I don't listen to the lyrics as if they were some holy epics carved in stone. Sorry!

Otherwise its an average Quo by numbers.

I dreaded this one. (Under protest): Your Smiling Face, Runaway and High Flyer although I really love the intro.
6 have voted for Breaking Away. How very dare you!

It is perhaps easier if the lyrics ain't sung in your native tongue, if you grew up on John Fogertys growl and never heard a thing of what he sung, and got into Quo with an easier word: again.

Difficult, as overall this is a good album with fairly consistent quality through "crafted" songs.
If pushed, I'd go for Come Rock with Me ( but not Rockin On as it has a good outro - that "stifled"/fast decay rhythm guitar at the stop is great ) Your Smiling Face Runaway

You can't choose a song because it's over played. If all songs would have been played as much as WYW I should say it's one of the few jet listenable. Did vote for Shady Lady, Your Smiling Face and Runaway.

Catlady is fairly insightful and has put quite a few posts into perspective. Most recently my enquiry about WYW being a 'concept' album. Rick Wakeman's "Journey To The Centre Of The Earth" was a concept album. There is a tenuous theme running thru WYW, though I wouldn't call it a concept album. I think some of the lyrics on the album are throwing up 2 fingers to QUO detractors. "17 years and it ain't worth giving a try you said " Who Asked You? We don't care what you think. Go and get F@#$ed!! Come Rock With Me and Rockin' On are saying that we're gonna keep rockin' the way we want to why don't you come along for the ride. I think Runaway is far more significant lyrically than people realise, it's about where QUO came from and which direction they should be taking. There's something about Runaway that I like a lot, the intro, the classic outro, the lyrics, Francis' vocals. I think Francis could be a delicate, sensitive person that covers the fact with his public persona for the media and US. I may be wrong. When I heard the outro for " Breaking Away" it sounded like a swan song, the end of QUO. I think I cried when the song finished. So, I was ecstatic when Just Supposin' was released and NTL. 79,80 and 81 are 3 of my fave QUO years
