When this song was first recorded I wondered at the time if the lyrics were directed at Alan Lancaster, hadn't dreamed at the time all those years ago that it would've been a dig at Francis. Now I think it was definitely a dig at Francis.....realise this topic has probably already been discussed in the past.

One Man Band ( Parfitt / Williams )
When I'm talkin' nothing's getting through If I'm sreaming it's never clear to you Can you hear me , am I wasting my time Am I working in a one man band
When I'm lookin' straight into your eyes Is there anyone home , you're tellin' me lies Listen to me , are you wasting my time It's lonely in a one man band Lonely in a one man band
Words out of line , don't ever hurt you Forever crying trying to turn you around
Woh oh oh oh Woh oh oh oh Woh oh oh oh Woh oh oh oh
Anticipating what you're gonna do Still waiting for a sign from you Come together or we're wasting my time And I'll always be a one man band I'll always be a one man band It's lonely in a one man band
Woh oh oh oh Woh oh oh oh Woh oh oh oh Woh oh oh oh
Could be - but sadly only one man to ask now

Yeah, could've just been about a girlfriend, who knows, but I think the line "am I working in a one man band", gives it away. But the line "trying to turn you around", could still be a reference to Alan Lancaster, because at the time Rossi and Parfitt had convinced themselves (wrongly, as it turned out) that Lancaster's refusal to move away from anything other than hard rock was the wrong approach. I still think its about Rossi these days though....oh I don't know!! lol

Put it with Ricks interview after the reunion - no one is asking about my opinion , what I want to do ( or words to that effect) and bingo .....2+2 =5 'cos we all know 3+1 =4

So I guess everybody knows I just found these guys in the past few years. So, not having that history of growing up with the songs, when I heard it there was no question it was directed at Rossi. It never occurred to me it could be anybody else. And well aimed at that.

Never paid much attention to OMB's lyrics as I haven't got the song (I think.) Always somehow presumed it was about Rick doing everything at the same time. Now I've seen the lyrics it's crystal clear. Wonder how that got past Rossi.

I don't know this album (1991 Rock Til You Drop) or that song quoted above. So I looked it up and found these lyrics from Francis. Putting these two songs together shows that it wasn't a one way street.
Fakin' The Blues (Rossi/Frost)
Waiting around for a miracle Looking at me for a clue I'm moving on, if it's the same to you Too late for me, too late for you
On and on, changing like the weather Close your eyes, no surprise is in store Look me straight in the eye, when you tell me that lie I can't have it though, I can't take it, no, over and over again. Who's fakin' the blues? Who's breakin' the rules? While tryin' to fool Fakin' the blues.
Isn't it time for a turnaround Isn't it time that you knew I never thought that I would say to you, You carry on, I'll survive
Maybe by now you'll be satisfied Looking to me like you do What do you feel burning inside of you? Living a lie, don't have to try
On and on, changing like the weather Close your eyes, no surprise is in store Look me straight in the eye, when you tell me that lie I can't have it though, I can't take it, no, over and over again. Who's fakin' the blues? Who's breakin' the rules? Who's fakin' the blues? Who's breakin' the rules? Who's fakin' the blues? Fakin' the blues

I always thought it was about a one sided love affair that was mainly written by Pip, who does actually write lyrics and music. So I presume it was presented as a demo by Pip and Rick got a writing credit for providing the rhythm riff. As I heard somewhere, can't remember where, that that's what generally happened with the songs he co-wrote.
As of Fakin' The Blues, Bernie was the lyricist, Francis the composer.
So basically in both songs they could be about things totally unrelated to any actual band member.

The WYW album is by a million miles their best album for lyrics. The more I play it the better it gets compared to the drivel of the past 30 odd years.I still think Nightride is the best lyric the band ever did..."Beaming laughing at my own face"...who hasn't been stoned/pissed and caught sight of their reflection in the mirror behind the bar or while toking in the bogs?

Or this
Four rockers rollin' With a poet in the wings Waiting to blow his heart away Beanos with the road-crew Postcards to the wife Stating the menu of the day Flying through 'til breakfast Sleeping on the plane Looking a good deal Better than we'll ever feel again
Is it really worth it? Could it all be real? Am I just living out a dream? Sitting in a hotel Falling of the stage Tuning in to Wonga Queen Old men in boys' clothes Has gone beyond a joke Skin me another And pass along the Whiskey and the Coke

The ultimate ambition of all beano's in Southern England is to encounter an all female pre wedding party full of Northern girls at the target area that has a really dark but large car parking area for the 'come here love' moment(that would be the Northern girls prelude to mating). The Sicilian tradition of omerta has nothing on the code of silence surrounding beano activity.A good British beano can cover in 16 hours and a 180 mile round trip everything that is achieved in a fortnight of Floridian spring break.

I ve also wondered if You'll come round was about Rick before as well, more like to be about Rossi's Mrs. though i'd have thought, we all know what the wife can be like with different moods (glad she doesn't read this board, at least i hope she doesn't!!)
