I'm also a fan of the fiskadelic period. Few songs I don't like much, but some favourites from PMM and SP include Technicolor Dreams, Nothing At All, When My Mind Is Not Live, Antique Angelique, Make Me Stay A Bit Longer and Little Miss Nothing Also the transition phase at the turn of the 60's/70's decade from fiskadelic to boogie rock is surely one of the most fascinating and exciting in rock music An extra reason really why I became a fan back in the 70's. Having bought the catalogue to date in the mid 70's in a haphazard order, I remember getting the Golden Hour album and finding some of these early fiskadelic gems. Back then, the contrast in style within a few year period was an even bigger surprise and intrigue than it remains all these years later I need to know... Why "fiskadelic"? Psychedelic and funkadelic I've heard, but that? She's quoting Francis.

Not a fan I'd rather listen to Bula Quo Cheers That's quite the statement. Is it the actual album or the genre you don't like? All of it Cheers

My favourite track of that era was When My Mind Is Not Live, the b-side to Ice In The Sun. That's my favourite track from the 60's era too. love that guitar sound. I think Elizabeth Dreams a cracking track as well.

I really like the spaced out middle section of You're Just what I Was Looking For Today
We could drift away together Where you and I could be alone
Nothing that is real applies neath the nothing matter skies We could drift away and build a world of our own
I get the drift

We could drift away together Where you and I could be alone
Nothing that is real applies neath the nothing matter skies We could drift away and build a world of flowers
I get the drift
Love that bit too - love the general big orchestration on Spare Parts. but I always heard it as pink above... Funny how we all hear different things. I always heard "...world of love"

can't beat a bit of mid-song cosmicity.... That Beatle-y middle section has always been the only interesting part of the song in my ears, and quite obviously a nod back to the beginning. A shame it ended up in such an altogether boring song...

Gentleman Joe, I love playing these mid -late 60's songs to people who think QUO are all the same dadadadadduhda.
They are shocked when I tell them it's Status Quo, some people even admit that the songs are good. Well, you and I know the songs are bloody brilliant! It's a very special and may I say a beautiful period in their evolution.
It's ironic that QUO are actually the Chameleons of Rock, changing and trying new sounds.

Rossi can call it Pissadelic but he really shouldn't trample on his own legacy
Is that an example of him protecting his BRAND. No it's not.
I could go thru the posts and threads to get the name of the person who said that's what Rick and Francis did in interviews, protected their product/brand.
Gentleman Joe, Catlady, myself and others really love QUO's late 60's psych music.
I've played drums in many different styles of bands over the decades and I'm proud of my versatility.
Francis needs to realise that they played some great tunes in that era, be proud of that fact, not piss on it.
Then they moved onto Tune To The Music, Down The Dustpipe ( fave) In My Chair, which is probably the most amazing transition in music history.
