Just one or two comments from Mr Porter, for info.
"Rick was not physically able to continue touring on medical grounds. He was uninsurable due to his pre-existing medical conditions, and sadly there were many. Rick continued to receive a full income from the band."
"Not one word was written of his autobiography. He was due to start writing that on 27 December."
"He was co writing his album with Joe Webb. he had completed full guitar and vocals for nine or ten tracks. Some of these tracks are fantastic - lyrically it was as though he could almost see what was going to happen. ... We are hoping to have something out by June."

Eh? I don't recall seeing any of these quotes from Simon in the latest FTMO. Is this the Rick memorial issue that arrived at the weekend?

Blimey! Two FTMO magazines in two days. There was the new one (Vol 16. No.1) waiting for me when I got home from work.

It will be interesting to see who produces his final album and just who they get to do the other musical parts, JC and Alan being obvious choices and if they do actually go for a FF sound, my worry is that now Rick is no longer here to oversee the project that Simon Porter gets his talentless, money-grabbing mits all over it and the final result is just Quo even-liter.

I think "WE are hoping to have something out by June" means that Porter will be in the driving seat

WE will just have to make the most of what we get, it is out of our hands.
This is much more than we were expecting though, yeah?

Rick was there to oversee his last solo recording, and my socks were not blown off, so I will just hope for the best and it would be really nice if alan and john could contribute.

Pip Williams was the wrong man to produce Rick, just as he was wrong for the band but I suppose it was going with the musical mood of the time, guitars were out, keyboards and especially synths were in. I hope his two sons have some input into the final sound of the album, especially as Jo Webb has worked with RPJ previously, a really hard driving rock album would be such a fitting tribute to such a sad event.

If only you had put a T instead of the M in mits.

Just think positive. 9 songs is an album.9 songs can be remastered.9 songs have de deluxe version written all over them.9 songs can be used on a new setlist as a tribute. 9 songs can be given the accordion treatment. 9 songs can go into the vaults and then be viewed with the prism thing and re-thinged through the fresh whatsname of the fcuking hallelujah.

Hmmm...with Porter on the steering wheel I don't have much hope for it... but one never knows I guess...
