Have there been any in the past? Is there a chance of there being any in the future? It would be nice to hear their sides of the story and their life after the band.

There was a "Coghlan and Quo" book, and Alan had a web page saying " I'm currently working on my bio" so there must come something out of Australia soon, unless it was negotiated away before the reunion..... One book I'd love to read would be Andys.... unless it was "corrected"...

There was a John Coghlan book called Coghlan and Quo. It came out perhaps fifteen years ago. To be honest dont bother with it as there are so many mistakes in it. As a long standing Quo fan I could not believe the errors, most of them basic. A real pity as I was so much looking forward to reading it!

Good read, but not that lengthy and timeline jumps about a bit. But Def worth a read, and makes a difference from the official party line from 'official' bumf from RP/FR. And Gilly very kindly got JC to send us an autograph with the book👍

So from the comments here it would seem that full biographies from the two of them is something we're lacking. Would be great if we got them. It would put a lot of things to rest too.

Outside of the hardcore Quo fanbase i don't think there would be the demand, to the masses Francis and Rick were SQ and had been for nigh on 30 years.
Alan and John doing something similar to Excess all areas but from there perspective would make a great read but i'm not holding my breath

If the fans want it that's all the reason for them to do it.

I would be more inclined to read these recollections from Alan and John, than the ghost-written 'official' bumf from official Quo camp.

in reply to hawkquo, I'd say Alan Lancaster was the driving force behind the tough gutsy boogie rock of Status Quo. I'm not hardcore QUO Mk1 though I would agree with Alan on the issue of Francis' love of country music. Francis should've done solo projects and maintained the trademark rock brand, the 3 pronged, heads down boogie that Alan and Rick loved. Alan is my fave member, socialised with him a few times in Australia, Sydney where I live, he is a lovely bloke. Though in saying all of that, I still love most of the material post Alan and John. Quid Pro Quo is effin brilliant, 4th Chord, Heavy Traffic, RIFFS, Famous In the Last Century, Thirsty Work, Rock Til You Drop. QUO are damned if they do and damned if they don't by critics and the media. Full credit to QUO Mk2 for trying different sounds. Unfortunately, it hurts me to say that Francis'attitude drove Alan and John out of the band, oh, and that God awful Marguerita Time, that should've been on Francis' solo album. Overall, I'd be one the most passionate and emotional QUO supporters in the World. They're the best and greatest Rock band of all time. I'm going Down The Dustpipe, I've got a $10 bill in my jeans and I'm doin' alright now.

Gentleman Joe, from my empirical studies of Rock bands both from being an observer and being a drummer in bands, we tend to be the eyes and ears of the band, the historian and keeper of records. All jokes aside, the drummers I've met and experienced, including myself are the smartest people in the band. I saw John Coghlan play in a band with Alan Lancaster at Hotel Manly in Sydney on 25th November 1988, with other high profile Australian musicians. We exchanged non verbal language to say G'day mate. I think I nodded and used a friendly hand gesture, he did similar. A mate and myself sneaked up to the band room after the gig, great night!

@ Slowtrain7: Thanks mate, I didn't know about the Bombers date for Sydney Manly Beach Hotel 25.11.1988. I'm still searching for more dates from the Party Boys and The Bombers down under.... Here's the link to my website: www.quogigography.net/86.htmlCheers!

slowtrain7 : if you're going down the Mk I ... etc, route then we're now on Mk VIII!
Mk I - with Roy Mk II - the classic FF Mk III - with Andy Mk IV - with Pete instead of John Mk V - with Rhino & Jeff instead of Alan & Pete Mk VI - with Matt instead of Jeff Mk VII - with Leon instead of Matt Mk VIII - with Ritchie instead of Rick
Of course, if you go back prior to Rick joining it starts to get a bit more complicated!

Yes Dennis, I concur totally! I did simplify my point, otherwise it would take too long to type all the different line ups. Can't choose a fave child, I mean album. All their albums suit a different purpose.
