1. Why did he change the neck pick up to a gold one when he never used the neck pick up?
I seen early pictures of when he first started using it and the pick up was a standard one in a silver colour.
2. Anyone know the make of the pick up?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's a lipstick pickup, no idea of the make though.

Thanks He used a Seymour Duncan Quarter pounder at the bridge for years. Don't know if it's still on it. My Parfitt signature Tele had a gold neck pick up on it, before I replaced them with Seymour Duncans. Heard there's a good sound off them pickups. Almost like a p90 type tone |

The bridge PU is a Linn Fralin, if my memory works.... I have a Tele with Seymour Duncan QP Bridge and Neck. If connected out of phase, they'll produce a better "cluck" than most original Teles...  |

Nice picture, but it isn't gold. Its the original pickup. Just aged. Same as the control knobs. Brass I think.

Aged pretty fast if it was gold literally a year after he started using it.
Either way, he never used it so it's irrelevant

ps he may have changed the neck one as well, who knows, but the neck pickup wouldn't have looked like that when it left the factory.
The Fender Signature models did use 'gold' hardware to try and duplicate his guitar, but just ended up looking tacky in my opinion.
Its a brass pickup cover that has had the chrome stripped off, maybe deliberately, maybe it wore off, I dunno.

ps2 before all you Tele owners go trying to rub the chrome/nickel off your neck pickup covers you need to make sure its brass and not steel underneath!
