Fame at last! Took me two takes. Thought that was Elton at first Go with the natty polkadot bowtie look, it could be your bands unique selling point and transport you to fame and fortune, the fact you'd look a tit is neither here nor there

rossi to blame for the tits then Will...you're probably on the right track.Do hate the bit in Hello Quo or some documentary when Rossi sort of gloats over Lancaster saying sorry.. small minded krunt. Aye, that was utterly kuntish. An "I win" moment that he can't help repeating whenever he gets the chance.

Yeah, that never sat well with me at all. The other three never were like that. I'll be very honest here, I too thought maybe Alan moving kick started it but, then I realised it would only have been 1980 when he was there for a sustained period of time, so it can't be that. Plus, members of bands live worlds apart and still make it work. There are just too many quotes, admissions and stories, even from Francis himself, that just makes me feel the way I do.... Shame too. I used to respect and admire him so much Just to state Alan moved to Australia in 1977 AND wanted the rest of the band to follow him there ! Erm not good ! But I inderstood why he went but it STARTED the rot no doubt about it. And FW too easily swayed regarding how easy it would still have been. Your judgement is clouded because you haven't experienced pre IT / Internet.. pre digital recording ! And he wasnt prepared to keep travelling over here either ! This rings some bells, but Alan basing himself in Oz should not have made a serious difference to the way they wrote and recorded. If he really thought they should base the whole band in Syndney, I don't see how that could have worked with a band that was established in Europe, but I don't myself remember anything about Alan suggesting the band should move to Oz. I do remember that it was stated that he suggested that they should base their operations in the USA and mount assault once more on that market. (That must have gone down like a bucket of sick with Francis. It seems that he didn't really even like touring there.) I'd like more info about his not wanting to come over - the "absence of Alan" situation around TOTP was to do with the family producing a new baby, which he wasn't prepared to miss.

The only time I remember Alan ever wanting the band to go to Oz was to record the next Quo album in 85... Rossi didn't want to work with Alan and the band in general "didnt" want to go there to record

Thread unlocked.
Let's just wind it back a bit please. I've deleted a few posts.
Edit - actually, I've just read some of the shite flung by three members in this thread. Some of the stuff said was totally out of order.
Please cool it - this started an interesting thread and descended into some pretty nasty stuff. Not acceptable.

I have the 2014 Frantic Four signed poster hanging up at work and last year this client of mine was staring at it... she then wanted to know the name of the guy with the 'mo' holding the guitar was and I told her it was Alan Lancaster. She said ..'ah yes Alan was his name and I remember sitting next to him on a flight from Sydney to London... he was such a lovely guy and he had a little cassette player with him and wanted me to choose between 2 songs his band wanted to release as their next single...I went for Something 'Bout You Baby I Like'. I'm surprised at the number of people who have fond memories of Quo back in the 70s while looking at that poster on the wall. Another was from this fella who chauffeured Quo around Sydney back in '78 and he said 'the girls....I remember all those girls!!' ;-)

Should have released Carol imo. Quo at their absolute best and it showed how far they had improved since BBJ. Knocked 7 bells out of the studio version of BBJ !
