I still have a Rick 30 minute radio in the studio interview he done a couple of weeks after ' RAOTW ' was released in 77 ! On Radio 1 I think . Its on a 30 minute cassette and i recorded it as it happened. Features lot of chat and tracks from the album played. It took place on a Saturday lunchtime I remember. Is it quite a common known interview does anyone know ? I just have never heard anyone mention it since and may have been wiped by the station soon after. Firstly I need to find a cassette player and record it from speaker on to my iPhone. Was thinking of uploading it somewhere for everyone but wondered about copy write. I guess it could be pulled. Any ideas ?

Hi Viking55,
I'd be very interested in hearing that one. All I have, also on cassette, its also a Radio 1 interview but I think might be from a bit later. I must get around to copying it too. Luckily I still have a good cassette player that works.
People regularly upload interviews on here that are more recent. You'll be okay. They're all sort of breaching copyright but as we're fans, and they weren't for sale originally, I should think its fine.
I hope you get around to making it digital. And welcome to our forum.

I have an 8-track player that still records. The thing I hated about those players was that they couldn't rewind.

If it needs cleaning up at all I'll gladly help Cheers

The quality is fine. You can hear every word clearly. Obviously was only recorded in MW at the time but its surprisingly ok ! As soon as I get it sorted I'll post a link. Need to find a decent cassette player !

The best Quo interview I ever heard was with Brian Matthew on My Top Twelve.Rossi/Parfitt as funny as they could be with a brilliant interviewer asking 'I'm not a sycophantic creep" questions.

I had some recorded Quo interviews from the late 70's on R1. I also remember recording the album charts with my sister during the school holidays (which Johnny Walker did on R1 on a weekday lunchtime) when BFY was number 1 for some weeks
Amongst the tape collection was a Rick interview at a gig on the RAOTW tour when he said that some fans were writing letters (remember those?) saying the sound had gone soft. Ahh, so its not just hearsay, there really were fan critics back in those days
However the cassettes never stood the test of time
Anyway, looking forward to hearing this particular interview quorp

I missed the RAOTW tour but I remember on the 79 tour 1st night at Newcastle Francis asked that audience if we felt it was too quiet...lol. He said they had complaints that since they switched to the wall of AC30's the sound wasn't cutting it ! Sounded fine to me...lol.
