Some of the songs during the 90's albums even sound like they should be on a party album or in a playlist with Agadoo, showaddywaddy, kajagoogoo, Joe Dolce etc etc. If I could be bothered to look, which I can't, I reckon there's a good chance that I actually would find some of their 90s drivel on such an album.

the mid 90's was a low period for Quo without a doubt... struggling to stay in the limelight and having to do publicity stunts just to even climb back up and show the public they were still as good as they once were... The RTYD event was probably the only good stunt they did.
All Rossi had to do was swallow his pride and talk to Alan again. We could've had a reunion and a proper acoustic Quo album with the Frantic Four instead of 'Dont Stop'. That would've give the rest of them time off to see their family. Instead he had to go on and talk down on Alan for another 15+ years

He said he brought them because he was so confident that they'd be incredible as Alan always thought and that they'd blow them away. Said he was upset and shell shocked at what they had become and the performance they put on.... Makes ya think..

another version of comedy quo they ruined this song vomit_100_107
They couldn't get much lower than that. Utterly dreadful. It's not so much what they did do, it's what they didn't. All that potential wasted over so many years.

This era of the band is more embarrassing then the Aquostic bollocks to some degree. Alan was prob cringing at it all as well as laughing wonder what Andy and Rick thought about this nonsense & musical atrocities during this shocking few years of the band. Francis prob loved this era Some of the songs during the 90's albums even sound like they should be on a party album or in a playlist with Agadoo, showaddywaddy, kajagoogoo, Joe Dolce etc etc. To be fair to him he hated that era and the DS albums. David Walker had such control over the band at the time that whenever he came up with an idea. He would huff and puff and they would end up doing it, Francis hates the Anniversary Waltz and the covers albums. However they sold to the GBP. Rock fans in the 90s and it's similar today are a small audience, for some reason the covers albums from many artists in the 90s sold bucketloads. They seemed to tap into the easy listening audience my wife is a fan of that style as well as dance music. She is not a heavy rock lover but she likes the Don't Stop album she had bought that even before I had met her. I played her stuff like DOTH and she could not stand it. We love that type of Quo but sadly it's not for everyone, David Walker knew that and tried to make the band expand into other areas. Thing is when Don't Stop sold as many as it did could you really say he was wrong.

Never knew Francis hated those albums as well but it all comes down the ideas of the management only thing David got right was RTYD event during the 90's. I get what he was doing expanding band to get new people into them but the covers albums could of been done with better production rather then sounding like novelty party cover karaoke songs give and take a few songs the only cover song i like from those albums is Old Time Rock and Roll the rest is shit.

I don't mind a few of the tracks on Don't Stop but it just wasn't right for Quo at all... Watching that performance of them doing playback at the Brixton Academy, they look like a wedding/function band.
As for Famous In The Last Century... Don't like that at all

That is embarrassing going to see them live and the first set is a playback set very cabaret quo. Did anyone here go to that Brixton gig?

I find it hard to believe that Francis didn't like the covers albums. If you look at the track listings on each there are plenty of songs that Quo covered on them that are by bands/artists he is well known to like and admire. He is not likely to have not enjoyed doing that.
I think in the context that the recorded product was so AWOL is maybe where the regrets lie here.
I think if Francis was offered to choose between DOTH or Perfect Remedy, he would choose the latter. He possibly enjoyed DS and Riffs more than DOTH

He probably hated DS cos it was in place of TWII, which would have basically been all the B-sides from the TW sessions 😉
