He may not think he's living in the past, but he's certainly making his living off the past & has done for over 30 years now.

That is a very weird interview. He "tells us" all the things he's told us before, and virtually nothing about what he hasn't. I would have liked to hear more about the hair implants.
And where does this stuff about "Rick collapsed on stage" ... it's been said before, it's the kind of normal "urban legend" version of the story, but this is the first time I've seen that directly attributed to Francis, and the bit about "I thought, oh no, not now" IS new to me ... all the official and witness reports from the start, including a direct interview with Francis, say Rick had the heart attack at the hotel. There have been no fan reports, no on-the-spot press reports, that he collapsed on stage, unless it was just one of his "funny turns" and he went off and was back after a couple of minutes. In which case, he should have been seeing a doctor immediately after the show.
So ... what?

I would have a lot more appreciation for what he constantly says if he had the guts to back it up and play the newer songs live, - regardless of the fact that the new songs are not my thing - and leave the ff material alone

Mrs F, have you see the short interview with Francis and his oldest son Simon, and they both tell a version of how his son told Francis that he was gay? Francis' version is not the truth, says Simon. And I believe his son as his version is more credible. So this doesn't surprise me. Its showbiz and Francis is telling us a better "story."

Final sentence , I cant stand all that nostalgia, are the aquostic albums and the final tour not ran off nostalgia tracks !!!!!! . I have no interest in Rossi unless he's playing with Alan/John/Rick but them days are over , thx foook they made so many great albums to keep listening too . Merry xmas and good bye , being a QUO fan { I mean STATUS QUO } this forum just keeps reminding me that no matter what the name is just going to get used and used to make money , nothing else .

I've never liked the way he speaks... always seems to be either talking bollocks or trying too hard to be funny. I started taking everything he says with a large pinch of salt long ago.

Regardless to what he may think.

I was dimly aware that there was more than one version of the story, but never read them both at the same time. So the fact that Francis may have been embroidering didn't park itself under my nose. But he has already been reported telling the hotel bedroom version! So if he is "drifting" now he's doing it jolly quickly ... does he think nobody will notice? Maybe they won't ... as you say, the urban legend becomes the story. I have seen friends and myself drift from the root of a story to a more memorable date, a more iconic name, repeating what someone else said, with no actual intention - it just happens. But if he is saying it now, he certainly knows the difference. :/ PS Got it, it was the next of kin one? Yes, I have seen it but a long time ago ... I pick up all sorts of bits and I don't file them away any more - the funny thing about this is, they are telling their stories, it seems, there beside each other. I wonder if it wasn't like that all the way through. The fascinating thing is, Francis has taken the bones of what happened and dramatised it as if it was between him and Simon, without Simon having to go through his mum. And Francis, usually, seems to be de-dramatising stuff, like, "it was just ... ". But here he is definitely dramatising, with the exact detail about the news on TV, etc. I wonder if he does know the difference? But that was a long time ago ... Rick isn't!

Re the article - the first thing I thought "It's a cobble job". But the beginning seemed quite convincing, like, there was a conversation. (Perhaps there were some things he forgot to ask? Um in a very small way, been there, done that But that bit about "Oh no, not now ... " I haven't seen that any where else. But as you say it could simply refer to the fact this was part way through a tour. BTW, small matter, I do recall in another field altogether a paper running a story about something I and some of my friends know a fair bit about, and it would have looked really convincing - it was just a biog, really - the writer was a titled academic - really convincing if you didn't know it had been lifted lock stock and barrel from another website and some of the words changed and bits switched round. Total ripoff. The guy who wrote it wrote to the paper, but never had a reply. Nothing you can do. I wonder if they paid the non-author? But they didn't care. I can't remember the name of the paper, oddly enough. All the same our writer here does sound convincing. If it's poor journalism at least he's put some effort into it :-) Maybe someone in the Quo camp one day will come out and debunk the myth ... or maybe not. It will fade, and won't make any difference to anyone in the long run.
