Doing a night shift and put on FF at glasgow.Got to be honest it was a bit rough and I'm not surprised that Rossi wasn't keen on carrying on with it.On the other hand I was at Hammersmith and loved it.I think what happens with live shows it's so loud and comes straight at you that the brain fills in the gaps that the ears don't really get the ropey singing and fluffed solos.Playing the FF stuff back doesn't work for me and it really starts to creak towards the end.Hate to agree but I think FR was probably right when he thought it could only go downhill if it went on.

I think the mistakes are part of the charm, especially the 2013 2nd Glasgow show. Spud getting it wrong at the start of Little Lady and getting all mixed up at the end of Big Fat Mama. I've not listened for a while, I think they all messed up Just Take Me if I remember correctly. We all know that FR is a bit of a perfectionist and that would have annoyed him a little even though he didn't show it. I still don't believe that he didn't enjoy the actual gigs, despite what he says. You just have to look at his face when the band were in full throttle..

Sure you're right but to Quo's credit they never tidy up live recordings.I thought the 2013 gigs blew anything since 86 sideways. It was the first time I'd really listened to the shows and was surprised that they didn't live up to my memories....then again the NEC 1982 gig was ok but average if you saw them live on that tour.

I recently worked out that Glasgow next week will be my 100th gig since 1979 and will probably be my last. In all that time I don't think I've seen or heard a bad gig, some better than others but never bad. My least favourite was at Edinburgh castle in 2001, maybe that's just because I'm not keen on outdoor gigs. What I did find about the reunion tour gigs was, it was hell of a loud compared to the current band, could actually feel the noise going through your body, it was great and dare I say, nostalgic...:-)

Ha ha, I don't care I've been called all sorts, I am a taxi driver you know.. :-) Anyway, nothing wrong with nostalgia and a lot of the reunion tour just that and it was fuckin great. Rossi was telling the truth..😉

Disagree.
Every FF gig I went to, I spotted the mistakes as soon as they happened. Only one who never fucked up was Rick. But, it never once took away my enjoyment of the gigs. Whether that's to do with the feel, sound, soul, vibe etc
I don't think it would have went down hill either. It was a lot tighter and better musically the next year. The problem was that they only had a combined total of 3 weeks rehearsal before both tours. 12 days for the first tour anyways. And considering bands do 6 week rehearsals before any major tour, Rossi shat the bed on that one and for a band, who were one of the biggest in the world, it was pretty unprofessional to not rehearse for longer (Shock horror, it's not just Rossi's band he finds fault with)
Also, I can't comment on or for anyone else but, those FF gigs were in no way nostalgic for me. I never experienced the original band before, I never grew up in the 70s, I only ever saw Rossi's Quo, I was 24 and 25 years of age at the time of the gigs. Travelling to Scotland and England and back to Ireland for those gigs, meeting people and experiencing the best band I have ever known and hearing those songs played properly was the most exciting times of my life. Hell, Dublin in 2014 is on a par with the best gigs I've ever seen.

Yep Dublin 2014 was the best of the FF gigs for me. That first night in Manchester was obviously very special, and the atmosphere at the Hammy gigs will never ever be beaten by any gig I ever see again. But that Dublin gig - they absolutely nailed it.

Reunions were shite, Aquostic was shite, they should've packed it in after BFY.

The mistakes detract from my enjoyment (the same goes for any recordings of CQ though), but it's more of a feel problem to me: At least the 2013 stuff I've heard/seen just doesn't gel the way I wish it would. This was better in 2014 so certainly playing together longer improved the group dynamics, but it's still kinda unnecessary as a live document if you've already got Live! which sounds better and has at least ten times more fire...
I've got no idea how I would've perceived it if I was actually there. Likely I wouldn't have noticed the things that are very obvious to me on CD or DVD, it's a very different experience.

That's why I started the poll 2013 v 2014....as I thought 2014 was much slicker. What do you think of the Dublin cd?
