Fair enough AC It's my experience though it's usually the same people who come out with the snide comments and the insults. I think it's a shame new quo fans keep quiet. If they really get unfair insults, the insulting post will be deleted and that has happened often enough, same with those cq fans who throw around insults to the FF fans cos those ones exist too.

You're probably right about it being the same (handful of) people Victor who make snide comments and insults. But it gets tiresome and so people stop posting anything positive because they know they will have to read these negative comments. I've just been on the tours and gigs section. The 3 German gig reports all have snide and negative comments posted on them. And there's a thread that says reports of Current Quo gigs shouldn't be posted in this section as it's no longer Quo and they are in the wrong section. Now none of these posts are bad enough to be nuked, and I (and a lot of people) have a decent enough sense of humour....but they do get tiresome and make people not bother posting. I would never be bothered to post a gig report on here, it's not worth the effort to have it shot down. Even the oldest FF fans who write positive posts get shot down. I'm not asking for anything to be done about it, I was just reiterating my original opinion about positive people keeping quiet.

It seems that perhaps I am in the very small minority (we should be protected in law) that absolutely, unreservedly, unapologetically LOVES Aquostic 2 The people who like it generally just keep quiet on here, as there are too many people who tell them they're wrong! Actually, I think you'll find that's your forum. Prime example being that thread about me. Another example being me discussing what was good and bad about Aquostic 1, with plenty of people on here. Fact is, people are not delusional on here and are not trying to convince themselves on this forum. That's the difference. "Oh it's the best album they've ever done" No! It's rubbish! It really is awful! Dear John is actually out of time. That's how bad it is. And before you say, "Oh that's just your opinion..." Are you going to tell me it's better than EVERYTHING they've ever done?

No one has to hide their opinions about Quo and no one is obligated to dislike the newer Quo. We leave certain comments up, yes, as you said most of these posts are not bad enough to be nuked..but the second it goes into personal insults we do take care of it, maybe not always right away, after all we have a life outside the net too. But we do try our best to at least filter out the personal stuff. And btw, nice to be talking like this, disagreements don't have to be a problem, depending on how willing the persons involved are to discuss things in a mature way I don't know if you have seen a post from about a month ago about this, in case you didn't here is the link link

As some one that may be referred to in this post as posting 'snide and negative comments' that you can stomach because you have the strength of character to '...to have a decent enough sense of humour' (i.e. deriding the comments that some one is making in all seriousness) I think you will find that the posters on this site are in the main passionate but also balanced and respectful. It seems to be that no one should be critical of the fantastic new line up and their equally fantastic new releases and live shows or of the strange 'happy clappy' style views expressed from the ever increasing "new rockers rollin' who come on almost like trolls, writing in a similar style to Rhinos blog, and then disappear. May be it will reach a point of the melt down on the official board where Simon Porter and Rossi through the rattle out of the pram and closed the site down as they couldn't face the fact that many fans disliked the product or direction they were going (Bula Quo) but shot themselves in the foot by getting negative publicity and losing a big resource at their finger tips for tapping in to the fan base...it was gone in a flash and really has more or less evaporated since. This probably nuked any lingering thousands of FF fans who over the years have lost interest in the band in troves.

Interesting reading. I've now reread the thread from start to finish. First off - I love the wit and humour of rockinronnie opening post. Thanks for coming here and telling us how you feel. I thought the thread title is superb. Having read the old SQMB, my perspective is that people here are respectful while being honest. derryquo is simply being DQ. He's being true to his character. And as admin we don't agree with him. I say thanks to all the posters in the thread for having their say. If more fans want to say how great the album is, then please do. What is tiresome is members telling each other what they can and can't post. We the admin do that. And we try to stay fairly neutral and allow all views here. After that, its all up to you the members.

Dear John is actually out of time. That's how bad it is. I've not heard AII Dear John yet, but if it's worse than the dreadful 82 version I don't want to.

The people who like it generally just keep quiet on here, as there are too many people who tell them they're wrong! Freewilly; me and you disagree on most things, especially most things current Quo, that's just the way it is, and I'm not going to try and change your opinion of any piece of music. Why would I, you're entitled to it. By 'your forum', I assume you're talking about Cups and Cafes; and you'd be right, there are also people on the other board that tell people they're wrong, it happens everywhere, not just on this board; but it does happen here as well. I know I keep repeating myself, and I know you get fed up of it.....but when we're discussing music (as oppose to humanitarian issues), whether or not somebody likes a piece of music is always down to their opinion. If you're discussing the technicalities of music (and I know you're more of a musician than I am, although I dabble a bit), that's a bit different. But when it comes to the enjoyment of music, for most people it's not related to the technical side. I'm not going to tell you that A2 is better than everything Quo have done because it is a long way from being my favourite album (in fact I probably wouldn't even rate any covers albums or acoustic albums against any original rock albums, they're a different animal altogether)....but I do like it. Now a thousand people can tell me I'm wrong, I'm lying, I'm delusional etc, but that won't stop me liking it and listening to it when the mood takes me. If @rockinronnie was serious in his opening post about it possibly being his favourite Quo album ever, then the same applies. That's a million miles from your opinion of it, but you'd be wrong to tell him his opinion is wrong and he's delusional, and he'd be wrong to tell you that your opinion is wrong and you should like it. I know you love your music, I know you love early Quo (as most of us do), and I guess you probably understand the technical side of music more than most of us; but I wish you would learn to understand that this doesn't overide someone else's opinions or love of a piece of music that you don't like. You can concede that other people like music that you don't without it invalidating your opinion. There can be 2 opposing views of a piece of music, without either of them being wrong. You're not wrong....but neither is Rockinronnie (unless he's taking the p1ss)!

I wasn't having a go at admin, and I wasn't asking (or expecting) anything to change. I was just answering the OP's comment about no-one else liking the album as much as he does. Now he could be absolutely right, and he might be the only person on the board who likes the album that much. I was just sayng that there are probably other people who like it but can't be bothered to say so because of the reasons stated. I could be totally wrong as I have no evidence to back it up obviously. You (all the admin) do a good job of policing this site, please don't think I think otherwise. I wouldn't want anyone who has different opinions to be stopped from airing them; Derry Quo and Freewilly are just as entitled to say what they think as i am. I just a get a bit tired of most threads related to CQ being taken over, not by people saying they don't like it, but by people telling others that they are 'wrong' to like it, delusional, don't know what they're talking about. If Rockinronnie (genuinely) loves A2 (where this thread started), then he should be allowed to love it without getting a load of abuse. If someone went to a gig and posts that they had a great night and they thought the band were brilliant, it gets a bit tiresome when people who weren't at the gig (some who haven't been to see the current band for years or ever), tell them they're wrong, or they shouldn't have enjoyed it, or it isn't actually Status Quo (a discussion we could have for ever and a day without ever agreeing)! There are genuine 60 year old Frantic Four fans who say they enjoyed the gig and the band were brilliant.....but for some reason some people won't accept that opinion as genuine. It isn't an admin problem; you aren't doing anything wrong, in fact you're doing things right. I was just trying to answer the question from my point of view.

And there isn't much admin can do about it because it comes from how the forum is constituted.

Popcorn anyone? I have to say as the complete and utter newbie (no editing my post! ) I've been a bit worried about looking in on this side of things, never mind posting in it, in case it was all *die hard Quo fans* who would make me sacrifice to the gods for not knowing my FFs from my CQs, but this topic shows people can discuss these issues with passion minus the offensiveness. Impressive

You're not wrong....but neither is Rockinronnie (unless he's taking the p1ss)! 1. Good post. Find it hard to disagree with any of that. 2. Yep. I am referring to cups n cakes. That place showed me it's true colours Call me bitter or angry but, I won't forget or forgive the fact that I lay in a hospital bed, after nearly been killed, as I proceeded to be banned from that place and then have a thread about me turn into insults, personal digs and a "subtle" essay written by Inna, in which she tore me to shreds. Nowt to do with you, as you said nothing about me but, I ain't forgetting it in a hurry. 3. Don't always disagree. I love albums like Army, AC, RTYD, UTI, HT, ISOTFC, QPQ from post 86 and I grew up with them. I loved them once. I just can't understand why anyone would accept them as Status Quo, when they can't even compare to the real Quo. It's not even debatable. I'm 28 and it still somewhat bothers me that I had 24 years of that time, without seeing the real thing, despite how good I thought CQ were up until then. 4. I agree, the technical side of music is not something that should decide one's enjoyment of a song, 99.9% of the time. However, in this instance it is...I remember my first listen to Dear John on AQ2 and, while I genuinely enjoyed the first few bars, I was dismayed when it went out of time at the "anyway it's" line.....They are professional musicians. What in God's name were they thinking? It's appalling from them. You're tapping your foot to it and then, all of a sudden, you don't know what way to tap. It's not even a "cool" or "psychedelic" way of doing it, it's just awful and disrupts the song completely. Also, Rossi is a clown for having those women on the record. They are truly awful and the lines they sing are written by someone, who clearly has no imagination.

Nope, not taking the p1ss. I really do love it. Some of the tracks i actually prefer to the originals. Backwater for example. I was never a great fan, but love this version. And Resurection - WOW, so much better (to my ears, IMVHO etc etc) I really do love all Quo, I am a rocker at heart. Going to see Sabbath in January. My favourite period is NOT FF, because some of the later stuff from FF does not float my boat. But the classic era of Ma Kelly & Dog to BFY are just dynamite. Would love Quo to still be doing stuff like that. But they are not So - I am not looking at Aquostic as poor versions of old classics. I see them as completely different things. Brand new songs, done in a brand new style. So whoever had released this album (any artist) I would love it because that is just where I am. I am not thinking - "This is not Quo" I am thinking "This is great, I wonder who it is - Oh it is Quo" See the difference - i am not trying to compare line ups, or periods of music, just enjoying it for what it is An old lecturer at college once told us (well he was not old, probs around 25 - 30, but we were only 16 so....) any way he was going on about Duran Duran and how much he loved them. We of course, being 16-18 year old heavy rockers laid in, saying how crap the music was. He said, "There is no crap music, just music you like or dont like" And that sunk in. The only bad music is that played unintentially out of tune or time. Anything else is art that you either like or do not like.
